Welcome to Cedar Valley Connections, a newsletter to connect the leaders of the nonprofit sector.  We've got a brand new look!

  Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center-lobby

 

WHAT:   CVNA and the UNI Nonprofit Leadership Alliance 

students are partnering for an opportunity to participate in a career mixer.

 

WHY:  Explore-A-Ganza is an excellent opportunity for non-profit organizations to become familiar with UNI students while providing students a forum to discuss internships, jobs, career & volunteer opportunities with your organization


ANOTHER ADVANTAGE:

In response to feedback from our Fall event, we've expanded the focus to include all aspects of career development-not just internships anymore.

 

 

 

Organization profiles will be shared with students ahead of time.  The format of the event will consist of "speed interviewing" with 5-6 rounds/rotations.   We hope you will join us!

 

This event, and other CVNA events, is open at no-cost to Cedar Valley Nonprofit Association members. Non-member fee is $25.

Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa-President & CEO

The President & CEO, who reports to the Board of Directors, is responsible for the overall day-to-day leadership of the Foundation. Priorities of this position focus on delivering the highest quality donor services while safeguarding the financial sustainability of the organization through prudent business practices. The President & CEO provides leadership in establishing sound strategic and financial goals; in collaborating with other leaders and decision makers in the broader community; in providing the vision to address future challenges and opportunities in the community; in fostering a developmental organizational climate that builds staff competencies and supports professional growth and development; and by representing the Foundation as its key spokesperson and representative.

United Way-

Senior Director of Community Resources

Cedar Valley United Way seeks an individual to provide leadership and coordination for the Campaign and Community Impact Work.  This position will establish relationships with donors, volunteers and community members to gather resources to invest in the community.  This position will lead the implementation of strategies to achieve the goals of collective community impact work.

 

Excellent communication, relationship building, interpersonal, and strategic planning skills are required.  A Bachelor's degree and three years' experience in management and resource development is preferred.  Salary is commensurate with experience and background.  Competitive benefit package is included.

EVENTS
Northeast Iowa Food Bank

will host the annual
Combat Hunger
at area grocery stores this weekend.

With the help of many volunteers and built-in incentives, it is anticipated that the event will yield record results. Food Bank staff and volunteers will be at the entrances of 12 local grocery stores beginning on April 5th through April 7th. Volunteers will be located at all six Cedar Valley Hy-Vee Stores located in Waterloo, Cedar Falls and Waverly, Fareway stores located in Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Evansdale and Waverly, Hometown Foods and Randalls Stop N Shop.

Both volunteers and store employees will encourage shoppers to support this worthy cause. Store patrons can help by adding either $1 or $3 to their grocery bill or by making a cash or food donation directly to the volunteers. Volunteer help is still needed, so please contact us today to help. Finally, don't forget to visit one of the participating locations on April 5th - 7th and help us Combat Hunger.

Join Us!  The YWCA's Seventh Annual Women of Persimmon Luncheon

Thursday, April 4th from 11:30-1:00pm 
 at the new Hilton Garden Inn in the Cedar Falls Industrial Park 
 
During the luncheon, we will recognize and honor outstanding women, businesses and organizations in the Cedar Valley.


Tickets to the luncheon are only $35 or a table of eight can be purchased for $250 by calling the YWCA at 234-7589.

RSVPs should be made by March 22.


 
  




   The Waterloo Community Playhouse presents
the comedic mystery:

Bloody Murder

At the request of Lady Somerset, a group of British murder-mystery types gather for a weekend. Is this just another formulaic, predictable mystery? Or is it something diabolically different?

Bloody Murder runs March 8 - 16, 2013 on the Hope Martin Stage, in the Waterloo Center for the Arts.
