Greetings!
Greetings!  Since our last newsletter we have been blessed with sufficient donations to continue the construction of the replacement house at Namugongo which houses 25 of the children. Praise God the construction is coming along and we should have a secure house ready when they return home from school in May.

This month, we're happy to present a short story about, Magdalena ULA #79. Magdalena needs a sponsor to allow her to continue her education, ensure that she has nutritious meals, and has a spiritual foundation that will allow her to flourish.  If you're interested in sponsoring
Magdalena or any of the other children, please click on the link below.  Some of our sponsors have been creative and formed a small sponsorship group to co-sponsor a child. This reduces the monthly commitment and provides the child with more people who care for them, pray for them, and show them tangibly that they are loved.  The impact of child sponsorship is immeasurable!

In addition to individual child sponsorship, donations to the ULA general fund are gratefully received.  The general fund is used for building maintenance, repairs, caregiver remuneration, postage, office supplies, and numerous other operating expenses.
In addition to financial support, ULA needs reliable volunteers to assist with office duties, event planning, and general coordination.  For any amount of participation, we're truly grateful.

We do also want committed prayer partners since we hold strong to our belief in God's providence.

EDUCATION - CONSTRUCTION - SPONSORSHIP

Education Update

Nile Vocational School

Several of the children in the Ugandan Lambs program attend the Nile Vocational Institute (NVI), a private school offering a variety of vocational/technical programs.  The goal is to train individuals and provide them with marketable skills that will lead to gainful employment and allow them to become self-sustaining.  Some of the older children have graduated from NVI and are now employed!  The above photo shows Viola with her diploma.
Numerous courses are offered at NVI.  Some of the programs that ULA children are enrolled in or have graduated from are as follows:
Bricklaying, Nursery School Teaching, Cosmetology, Catering and Hotel Management, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Plumbing and Agriculture.
Additionally, a course in Basic Entrepreneurship is compulsory for all programs.
Each program has an internship requirement to allow the participant to gain some hands on practice and for potential employers to evaluate their skills and work ethics.

Construction Update

Namugongo Building

Construction on the replacement house for the children's orphanage at Namugongo is coming along very nicely!  When the current house was severely damaged during heavy rains last month, it was necessary to move the construction forward as quickly as possible.

Windows and doors are essential for security!   During each school break the children can not leave any belongings at the boarding schools: therefore, it is essential that they have a secure place to call "home" when they return to Namugongo in early May.

It will be exciting to see the joyful expressions on the children's faces when they see the nice new building where they will have a little more space, a roof that does not leak, and walls that are not crumbling!

Praise God and thank you to the donors who made it possible!
Child Of The Month

Magdalena ULA# 079

Magdalena is our featured child for the month of May.  Since both of her parents died of HIV/AIDS she has been cared for by an elderly grandmother who is not able to adequately provide for her.

Magdalena is a very sweet 6 year old girl. She has a very pleasant personality and smiles all the time!

Please consider becoming her sponsor and showing her in a tangible way that she is loved and truly cared for!
