Well helloooooooo Spring!  We could not be having better weather for our outdoor sports right now and you need to get outside and come support our Tigers!  Also, believe it or not, we are only two weeks away from district tournaments.  Wow!

Girls soccer continues to impress as they defeated Republic and Monett this week.  The girls are 11-4 overall and an impressive 3-0 in the COC!  They will be in the Willard Tournament starting today and continuing tomorrow.  Next week, they will travel to Neosho on Tuesday and will host Nixa on Thursday.  Good luck ladies!

Congratulations to the baseball Tigers on their victories over Hillcrest, Marshfield, and Joplin this past week!  The Tigers will travel to Kickapoo tomorrow to take on Rogersville and Kickapoo starting at 11:00am.  Next week, they will host Carthage on Tuesday and will travel to Harrison, Ark on Thursday.

The track Tigers had a great day at Republic yesterday with several personal bests being recorded.  The teams will be traveling to Nixa next Thursday for the COC meet.  Good luck track!

Tuesday, April 28, was the mandated state-wide ACT test day for juniors.  During this time, freshmen and sophomores completed a practice ACT to receive the experience and feedback.  Mr. Burns and Mrs. Jewel will be meeting with classes later this month prior to school being dismissed to share results and recommendations for the future.  Students and staff prepared for this assessment very well.  Our counselors worked hard to make this day meaningful for everyone.  It was awesome to see students and staff in sync with purpose and meaning throughout the day!

Prom is this Saturday at University Plaza.  The junior class and sponsors as well as Mrs. Duncan and Mrs. Wooldridge have tirelessly worked to make this an "Enchanted Evening".  Dinner is at 7:30 with doors opening at 7 PM.

Seniors practiced for graduation on Tuesday as well.  Mrs. Kiesewetter and a couple of students visited JQH arena and produced a very fun informational video for our seniors.  Graduation information is posted to the website.  Remember, we are at JQH on May 16, 8 PM

We celebrated Fine Arts Night and our School wide Book Read Celebration on Thursday evening.  We packed the halls with parents and students who enjoyed finding their artwork displayed around the building.  They also enjoyed some fun activities that focused around the book The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling. Needless to say, everyone had a little chocolate during the evening by graphing their favorite chocolate, mixing/drinking chocolate milk, chocolate walk, making chocolate goodies with cocoa play dough, and more!  Coach Ferguson made sure students burned some extra calories by exercising long enough to burn off one Hershey kiss.

Upcoming Events:

Special Services

On Saturday, May 2nd,  athletes from across Southwest Missouri will be participating in the State Track and Field Meet for individuals with disabilities.  We have 17 students representing Willard Public Schools who have practiced and prepared and are ready to compete.  Events include the softball throw, tennis ball throw, running, jumping and more.  After the track meet, students will have the opportunity to attend the Haygood's live performance or go to Silver Dollar City. We are proud of their hard work and appreciate all of the sponsors and parents who make it possible. Willard's team is led by Coach Jessica Gomes and multiple assistants who volunteer to supervise and support our students.  We know they will do a fantastic job representing themselves, their families and the district.  If you would like more information about ways to get your student involved, please click on the link provided.
