OCTOBER EVENTS

October 1: Tour of "Glampers" in Glampasas will take place from 3-5pm at W.M. Brook Park. $10 per person. All proceeds benefit the Christmas on the Creek committee's effort to expand lights along Sulphur Creek Thanksgiving thru January 2nd. Contact Kathi 512-556-6831. 

October 1: Republican Party 4-Person Golf Tournament. Contact Golf Pro Shop 512-556-3202.

October 3: Library Teen Program - Meme T-Shirt Craft at the Lampasas High School Library 3-5pm. Bring a plain t-shirt. Contact 512-556-3251.

October 4: The Lampasas Police Department invites you to participate in the 2016 National Night Out at our local H.E.B. National Night Out is a great opportunity for citizens, law enforcement, and other public safety officials to join forces to promote crime prevention awareness, to come together and send the message that we are all working together to prevent crime in our community. On Tuesday, October 4th, from 6-9pm residents are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors and come to the HEB in Lampasas to join us for hotdogs, drinks, and music as a way to meet and socialize with one another.

October 5: Teddy Bear Clinic Story Time 
from 10-11am at the Lampasas Public Library. Kids can bring their teddy bears and a Rollins Brook nurse will give them checkups. Contact 512-556-3251.

October 8: 22nd Annual Herb & Art Festival at the Hanna Springs Sculpture Garden at Campbell Park from 10am-6pm. Contact Chamber of Commerce 512-556-5172.

October 8: "Books & Badgers" Special Story Time with an LHS Badger at the Lampasas Public Library from 10:30-11:30am. Contact 512-556-3251.

October 11: "How Pinteresting" String Art Class at the Library from 5-7pm. Contact 512-556-3251.

October 12: Library Teen Cartooning Workshop at the Library
from 4-6pm. Class size is limited to 25. Sign up at the LMS library, LHS library, or public library to reserve your seat. Contact 512-556-3251.     

October 13: Research, Writer, and Pacific War Historian Dennis Blocker Talk at the Library from 5-6pm. Contact 512-556-3251.

October 15: Colorado Cattle Women's Night 2- Person Golf Tournament. Contact Golf Pro Shop 512-556-3202.

October 15: EAA Young Eagles Flight Rally at the Lampasas Airport. Registration begins at 8am. Ages 8 to 17 can come enjoy a free plane ride. Contact 254-690-0505.

October 19: Cornelia Key Book Club Clementine: the life of Mrs. Winston Churchill from 11-12pm at the Lampasas Public Library. Contact 512-556-3251.


October 20: "Conservation of Family Treasures" with Susan Worth at the Lampasas Public Library from 5:30-7:30pm. This is an instructional class on how to preserve family heirlooms. Learn tips and techniques. Contact 512-556-3251.

October 22: Lampasas County Wine Tour. The Wine Tour is a Chamber of Commerce sponsored event that features tastings from local and area wineries. Winery owners share tasting tips, information on the wine industry and exclusive specials on their products. Ticket holders participate in a reception with a guest speaker, with light snacks and beverages offered. Tour includes Wedding Oak Winery, Fiesta Winery, Pillar Bluff Winery, Pilot Knob Winery, and Texas Legato Winery. Contact the Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce for more information 512-556-5172.

October 22: DEA Drug Take Back from 10am-2pm at the Lampasas Police Department. Contact 512-556-6235.

October 24: "BBQ For Books" drive-thru lunch will be held from 11am-1:30pm at the Library (pickup meals on Main Street side of building). Tickets on sale TBA. Tickets are $9.00 each. Meal consists of a chopped BBQ sandwich with pickles, onions, chips, chocolate sheet cake, and bottled water. Delivery is available for orders of 6 or more. C

October 29: Squared Silly at the downtown Courtyard Square from 5-7:30pm. Squared Silly is a Family FUN event that features a costume contest for ages 0-12, a Haunted House for the wee ones, bounce house, train ride, booths and games. All proceeds go to local youth organizations.

Library Online Catalog: Check out the Library online catalog. When you log in, you can access your account,place reserves, and renew materials... all online, from the comfort of your home. Photo-of-the-Month Contest: Enter our photo-of-the-month contest by visiting www.cityoflampasas.com for contest rules and emailing your photo to photocontest@cityoflampasas.com . The City Council will announce the monthly winning photo at the first regular City Council meeting. Winners will receive a City of Lampasas insulated tumbler w/straw and posting of their photo on the web site.

 

Can You Be Located In An Emergency? The owner of every house or building within the City is required to have a house number placed theron that is readily visible from the public right-of-way on which the structure fronts or faces. The numbers shall be a minimum of three inches in height and contrast with the background on which they are placed, made of material that will not tarnish, corrode or deteriorate unreasonably. Not only will this assist emergency personnel but the US Postal service as well.
