FIRE CHIEF LINDSEY RETIRES

Fire Chief Terry Lindsey announced his retirement. Chief Lindsey has been with the City of Lampasas for the past 24 years. He has served as Firefighter, Fire Captain, Fire Marshal, and for the past 17 years as Fire Chief / Emergency Management Coordinator. Under his command, he has overseen countless fires, vehicle accidents, rescues, Hazardous Materials Emergencies, Fire Inspections, and Medical Calls. He has worked with thousands of children during Fire Prevention week every year and has overseen and organized many Christmas toy drives. The list goes on and on. No firefighter was ever seriously injured under his command. Chief Lindsey instilled into his staff that being a firefighter was not something you do to draw a paycheck, but something you do to help a fellow man in their time of need. In this community we have off- duty firefighters who come in for emergency calls, even when it is not required of them. These firefighters are volunteering their time away from their families to help others in need. The men and women of the Lampasas Fire Department treat each other as family, often referring to one another as brother. This is a direct result of the quality leadership that Chief Lindsey has provided to this community for the past 17 years. Anytime one of us has needed direction in life, whether it be professional or personal, his door was always open. When personnel responded to a bad call, indescribable by words, he always had this ability to put a smile on your face and he would stand by your side until you regained your composure. He always made sure his firefighters were ok. When you see Chief Lindsey around town, please take a moment to tell him 'thank you' for his many years of service to the community of Lampasas. He deserves it!
