LAMPASAS FIRE DEPARTMENT TOY DRIVE
  
The Lampasas Fire Department would like to remind the Lampasas community of the annual toy drive. You can donate new toys or bikes to the Lampasas Fire Department at 1107 East 4th Street. The FD will also take tax deductible donations. This money goes towards the Christmas fund and will be distributed out to families in the Lampasas community as a relief fund for residential house fires to help the families involved.
  
As always the Lampasas Fire Department would like to thank you for your support.
  
 DECEMBER EVENTS
    
November 3 - December 5: Brush Chipping Program. Contact Public Works 512-556-8315.
  
December 3: Library Preschool Story Time at Library at 10am. Contact Library 512-556-3251.
  
December 4: Library Grand Re-Opening will take place from 10am-6:30pm. Ribbon cutting will be at 10am in front of the Library. There will also be a story time & craft for kids from 5-6:30pm. Refreshments will be served. Contact Library 512-556-3251.
  
December 5: Christmas on the Creek! Kickoff lighting will be at 6pm at WM Brook Park. Hayrides, caroling, candy canes, hot chocolate stand, and ,much more! Rumor has it Santa will be there and available for photos!
  
December 6: Carol of Lights will begin at 6pm at the Courtyard Square. Contact Chamber of Commerce 512-556-5172.
  
December 7: Lampasas County Museum Tour of Homes from 1-5pm. Admission is $7.00. Tickets will be available at The Word Christian Bookstore & Lampasas County Museum. 
  
December 24-26: City offices & Library closed for the Christmas holidays. Trash services run one day behind. Thursday's pickup will be on Friday and Friday's pickup will be on Saturday.

 BRUSH CHIPPING PROGRAM

 

 

The City will begin its brush chipping program in November. The pick up dates, areas and rules for the brush chipping program are as follows:

November 10 , - November 14, 2014                        Southwest section of the city. West of Key                                                                                    Avenue and south of First Street.

 

November 17, - November 21, 2014                          Southeast section of the city. East of Key                                                                                     Avenue and south of First Street.

 

November 24, - November 26, 2014                           Northeast section of the city. East of Key                                                                                     Avenue and north of First Street.

 

November 27, - November 28, 2014                          City of Lampasas will be closed for holidays

 

December 1, - December 5, 2014                              Continue of Northeast section of the city.

                                                                                    Finish up all sections of city brush chipping.

 

NOTE: City sponsored brush chipping will occur only during designated weeks and designated areas. Cen-Tex Waste Management will also pick up brush on their regular garbage pick-up days subject to the following conditions:

 

 - The brush is no longer than four feet in length;

 - The brush is tied in bundles; and

 - The bundle does not exceed 35 pounds in weight.

 - The bundle must be out by the curb.

 

 HELP US LOCATE YOU IN AN EMERGENCY
  

Help the Lampasas Fire Department, Lampasas Police Department and EMS find you when you need help, we are asking that you please put your address on your house. Below is a copy of the city ordinance to use as a guideline.

Under Sec. 18-361 & Sec. 18-363 of the Lampasas, Texas, Code of Ordinances

"It shall be the duty of the owner and the occupant of every house, building and structure within the city to have a house number placed thereon that is conspicuous and readily visible from the public right-of-way on which the structure fronts or faces."

 

 1. Numbers or letters shall be a minimum of three inches in height and shall consist of durable  

     material which will not tarnish, corrode or deteriorate unreasonably.

 

2. Numbers shall sufficiently contrast with the background on which they are placed so as to be

    readily visible from the public right-of-way on which the structure fronts or faces.

  

3. Peel-off or adhesive backed numbers and numbers painted on the curb shall not meet the

    requirements. (Note: While numbers painted on curbs will not work per the code as a primary it is 

    good backup, if you would like to have both numbering on your house and the curbs, this is totally

    optional).

Photo-of-the-Month Contest: Enter our photo-of-the-month contest by visiting www.cityoflampasas.com for contest rules and emailing your photo to [email protected] . The City Council will announce the monthly winning photo at the first regular City Council meeting. Winners will receive a City of Lampasas insulated tumbler w/straw and posting of their photo on the web site.

 

First Call Emergency Notification System: In an effort to improve communication with the public, during emergency situations, the City of Lampasas is implementing the FirstCall Emergency Notification System. In the event of an emergency FirstCall will send alerts to you via phone, email, or text notifications.To be sure that all affected citizens of the city and county can be contacted, we are encouraging everyone to sign up for the FirstCall system by filling out the registration form found at http://alertregistration.com/LampasasTX/ .

 

Can You Be Located In An Emergency? The owner of every house or building within the City is required to have a house number placed theron that is readily visible from the public right-of-way on which the structure fronts or faces. Not only will this assist emergency personnel but the US Postal service as well.
