BILLINGS ON TOP and GROWING!  STR NUMBERS OVERVIEW – APRIL 2013

Of note: Statewide RevPAR increased in April (40.72) over the previous month (39.66) by 2.67%, while Billings’ growth in RevPAR (April  over March) was significantly up … 22.15%!

U.S. HOTEL GUESTS SPEND MORE TO RENT ROOMS, BUT NOT ON MUCH ELSE!

Based on a sample of operating statements collected from approximately 6,500 hotels during the 2013 Trends(R) survey, rooms revenue increased by a healthy 6.3 percent from 2011 to 2012; however, total hotel revenue grew by just 5.0 percent. This means that the combined revenue earned from food and beverage, other operated departments, and rentals and other income increased only 2.3 percent per available room (PAR), or a mere 0.5 percent when measured on a dollar per occupied room basis (POR).  Read more

The small city of Williston, N.D., was once a sleepy farm town -- until oil companies discovered ways to tap the vast Bakken formation believed to hold as many as 24 billion barrels of oil.
