AFI DOCS Starts This Week in Silver Spring

Mark your calendars for June 23, the start of the 14th Annual AFI DOCS Film Festival at the historic AFI Silver Theatre right here in downtown Silver Spring.  GSSCC is pleased to be part of this premier international documentary film festival, which will also host screenings in Washington, DC at the Landmark E Street Cinema and the Newseum.  Find the complete guide and purchase festival passes and tickets at AFI.com/afidocs or download the AFI DOCS app. Note: GSSCC members who are also AFI members get discounts on both tickets and passes. * Join Montgomery Community Media for Summer Backpack Journalism Camp. Backpack journalism is a form of broadcast journalism where the individual is the reporter, camera operator, and editor. These individuals have the ability to get into their neighborhoods and communities to find stories that matter to them. Session 1 is held from June 27 through July 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Session 2 is held from July 18 through July 29, from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
