* Congratulations to United Therapeutics on the groundbreaking ceremony for the new addition to its corporate headquarters in Silver Spring! It was actually a meter-breaking event, since the new building will be "net zero," generating its own electric power, and possibly being able to give some power back to the grid. Click here to see the pictures, taken by Adam S. Lowe Photography.

* At a new workspace pop-up in downtown Silver Spring called "Outbox", you can escape your office's fluorescent lights to achieve the grown-up version of having class outside. The workspace, created through a collaboration between Downtown Silver Spring, Peterson Companies and Montgomery College, with sponsorship by Adventist HealthCare, will launch today with seating, tables, free WiFi, and electrical outlets available for out-of-office workers to use Monday through Friday every week this summer. Click here for more information.

Zivaara (formerly known as Puja Satiani) has started a rewards program to celebrate its customers. Visit the online boutique and click on the "Rewards" tab on the top right of the page. Earning rewards is easy, and you can exchange rewards for discounts to our online boutique.

* Join the Silver Spring/Takoma Park Thunderbolts at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, for their Season Opener at Blair High School Stadium. The Thunderbolts are Silver Spring's own 'wooden baseball bat' team in the Cal Ripken League, one of the Country's best collegiate summer baseball leagues. Click here for more information.

* The Silver Spring Library will kickoff its Summer Reading Program from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, right outside the library. Matthew Paul, a performer with the Big Apple Circus, will entertain with juggling, balancing, music, bubble blowing, and popsicles.

* Join Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 11, at the Germantown branch for a special "Real Estate & Mortgage Seminar." Click here for more information and to register.

* All are invited to attend the first annual Discover Bonifant Block Party from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, to celebrate the unique, locally owned, small businesses on Bonifant Street, including many Chamber members.

* Join Kefa Cafe (during the Block Party) to celebrate its 20th anniversary and support of the community. Customers can enjoy free coffee and pastries from 10 a.m. to noon and will receive a 10% discount on all purchases.

* Join The Urban Winery (also during the Block Party) to celebrate its one-year anniversary. Start the festivities early by getting 25% off a "Winemaking Experience" booked in June.
