Docs In Progress kicks off its 6th annual Community Stories Festival with a reception and screening at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural CenterDocumentary films, produced by adult and youth students. tell real-life stories of Montgomery County artists, nonprofits, and small businesses. On Wednesday, November 11, the group will partner Silver Spring Town Center, to present "Brookeville: Capital for a Day" at the Silver Spring Civic Building. Click here for more information.

The Corporate Volunteer Council of Montgomery County, Kaplan University Rockville, and Cornerstone Montgomery will host a free job fair from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. next Thursday, November 12, at Kaplan University's Rockville campus (1390 Piccard Drive).  Click here for more information.

* Downtown Silver Spring hosts its annual "Re-Imagining the Holidays Tree Lighting Celebration at 6 p.m. next Saturday, November 14, on Fountain Plaza. This year's "tree" is a 35-foot-tall public art installation built with food containers, plates, cups, bottles, and  silver "u-tinsels" draped throughout. * Puja Satiani and All Set Restaurant & Bar will join The Urban Winery for its Bole Zinfandel Release Party to benefit The Alzheimer's Association. * Pepco has been honored by the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) for its WaterShed Sustainability Center, located at the company's Rockville Service Center, 201 West Gude Drive. The 900-square-foot home designed by University of Maryland students is a living classroom and laboratory for sustainable energy that features multiple electric vehicle charging ports and other hands-on, interactive displays.
