State Representative David Olsen of the 81st House District will personally staff this event from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to meet with constituents and talk with them about State services offered through his office, as well as their concerns and suggestions.

Novel Idea is for readers who like to delve into a book's characters, plots, setting, and themes. Drop in at the library on the second Wednesday of the month (September-May) at 7 p.m.

Crime Readers is for those who like unraveling clues, interpreting evidence, and analyzing characters. We partner with the Woodridge Public Library to bring crime readers together on the third Thursday of the month (September-May). Meets at 6 p.m. for dinner (optional) and 7 p.m. for discussion at Home Run Inn Pizza, 7521 Lemont Rd. in Darien.

Minecraft Mini-Con
Monday, Oct. 10, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Kids and teens in grades 1 and up are invited to join us for our first-ever Minecraft Mini-Con to learn about servers, mods, and more. Make personalized buttons, magnets, and other crafts to show your love for Minecraft. Build in the real world using our LEGOs and other building materials. Bring your mobile device or laptop and play along other builders. Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Is there a special man in your family - dad, grandpa, or a favorite uncle? Show him just how super he is at this event! Stories, food, and fun. Register each child attending.

Too cool for stuffed animals? Think again! We'll bring those old toys back to life as ghoulish creations. Bring your own to cut apart and put back together, or use some of ours. Register here.

Write-On Teen Literary Festival

Teen writers can submit their poetry, short stories, and/or song lyrics for our Cool Compositions Contest. Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners in each category. Entry forms are available at writeon.ippl.info and at the library's Kids & Teens Ask Us Desk. The entry deadline is Oct. 22. Winners will be announced Nov. 2 during An Evening with Jason Reynolds. To prepare, teens can sharpen their writing skills at our Teen Writer's Workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 7-8:30 p.m. Write-on is sponsored by The Gift of Carl Foundation.
