July is Park and Recreation Month, and we're looking for input on your favorite parks. Email the name of your favorite nature spot, forest preserve, or state park to joep@ippl.info by July 15. We'll take an informal vote at the library to pick the most popular later in the month.
Art Therapy Night
Friday, July 1, 7-8:30 p.m.

Unwind with adult coloring books and other forms of art therapy while enjoying friendly conversation and soothing music. Bring your own materials or use ours. For 20-30 somethings only. Register here.

Documentaries: A Moving Picture of the United States
 
The library has more than 100 documentaries on American history covering a wide variety of topics from its founding (Founding Brothers) to the New Deal (The Dust Bowl), Watergate (Watergate Plus 30), and beyond. There are also documentaries about slavery (Slavery and the Making of America) and civil rights (4 Little Girls), immigration (The Italian Americans), and Chicago (Chicago: City of the Century). Stop by the Adult Ask Us Desk for assistance in finding these (or any) DVDs. Documentary DVDs can be checked out for three weeks.
Life-Sized Yahtzee on the Lawn
Thursday, June 30, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Families will love this event for all ages. Math has never been more fun! Register here.

Shark Week Celebration
Wednesday, July 6, 2-4 p.m.

Celebrate Shark Week by watching Shark Tale (PG) and creating fun shark crafts to take home. For families and kids in grades K-5. Registration not required.
Call to Action Food Drive

The participants in our Call to Action Workshop (grades 3-6) are running a food drive to benefit People's Resource Center in Westmont, and a donation box will be located at the foot of our staircase through July 14. Special thanks to Gower West teachers Mrs. McCandless and Mrs. Bjork for working with these students.

The group will talk about their project and how kids can make a difference in their community during the library's Giving Back Night on Thursday, July 14, at 6:30 p.m.
