Soon to be Famous Illinois Author Visit

Join us next Wednesday, Sept. 16, 7-8:30 p.m. as this year's winner of the Soon to be Famous Illinois Author contest, Michael Alan Peck, talks about his winning novel, The Commons: Book 1: The Journeyman, and how it came to be. He'll conclude with a Q & A session, followed by a book signing

Tickets On Sale Next Week! 

Join us for Dancing in the Spooky Stacks, a unique event featuring an after-hours library performance by The Neverly Brothers, on Saturday, Oct. 24, 7-10 p.m. 

Dress to impress - in '50s, '60s, or Halloween style - for the costume contest. A cash bar and light snacks will be available. Must be 21 or older to attend.

Tickets go on sale Mon., Sept. 14. They are $20 in advance, $30 starting Oct. 5, and $40 at the door (while supplies last). VIP tickets (limited quantity) are $50 and include a meet and greet with the band, reserved seating with a full view of the stage, an autographed event poster signed by the band, and two beverage tickets.

Proceeds will be used to support children's literacy and learning.

Library Card Sign-Up Month

September is Library Card Sign-up Month, and public libraries nationwide - including IPPL - want to make sure that every student has the most important school supply of all - a library card!

This September, kids who sign up for their first IPPL card will receive a specially-designed card just for kids, a kid-sized book bag, as well as a special Snoopy sticker and bookmark. Those renewing their card will also get a Snoopy sticker and bookmark.

Commemorating Patriot Day

This Friday is Patriot Day, a day of remembrance for those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. The library has many movies and documentaries on the subject, and several books are available in our catalog. 
Feed Your Body, Grow Your Brain

How does what children eat affect them at school? Kids can find out next Monday, Sept. 14, 3:30-5:30 p.m. The event will include discussion, puppets, and tasty after-school snacks sponsored by Fran Center, Whole Foods Market Willowbrook, and the University of Illinois Extension.
