New Book Discussion Group
Do you enjoy books and like the idea of joining a discussion group, but don't have enough time or inclination for the typical once-a-month discussions? IPPL is considering starting a group for people who like the idea but can't make the time. Depending on the interests of the group, we may read short novels (novellas), short stories, or essays, and meet about every other month. Leave your name, phone number, and email address for Shirley Jensen at
shirleyj@ippl.info or 630/887-8760 ext. 233 if you are interested in participating in such a group.
Rewarding Readers, Supporting Schools
This summer, in addition to challenging kids and teens to read for our Homemade Readers Summer Reading Challenge, we also challenged our schools to get involved!

This fall, we are awarding a trophy to the school with the highest percentage of readers who completed their summer reading goals.

We are proud to announce that the winner is Anne M. Jeans Elementary School! Anne M. Jeans will get to display the trophy throughout the 2015-16 school year.

Our enormous thanks and congratulations to all of the schools and students who participated in our 2015 Homemade Readers Summer Reading Challenge!
TAB Applications Available
Applications are being accepted for our Teen Advisory Board. TAB is a forum for teens in grades 7-12 to:
  • have fun and meet other teens
  • have a voice in planning library activities for teens
  • assist librarians with programs and events for children
  • gain leadership skills and community service hours
TAB meets on the third Saturday of the month, September to May, 2:30-4:30 p.m. The group discusses and plans activities, volunteer opportunities, and thinks about ways the library can better serve teens in our community. TAB members earn community service hours for their time. For more information or to apply, visit tab.ippl.info.
