Build a fort in the library! Hang out with your friends, family, and favorite books. You bring the sheets and pillows, we'll provide the popcorn.

Saturday, Aug. 8
2 p.m.

 

Celebrate the end of the Summer Reading Challenge with singing and dancing. Starring musicians from the Old Town School of Folk Music. All ages welcome.

day, we'll introduce
weekly activities and
homemade projects
such as sewing
critters, calligraphy
and handmade cards, kite-making, birdfeeder rockets, and more!
 


 

Digital Media Lab

Our Digital Media Lab
will be open to all ages all summer! The space can be used to create and edit video and audio projects. Go to digmedlab.ippl.info for details, including a list of equipment and software.

Homemade Readers Summer Reading Challenge

READ BOOKS - WIN PRIZES! 

 

Join us for Homemade Readers, our 2015 Summer Reading Challenge for kids and teens, June 13 through Aug. 8!

Sign-Up

Sign up starts June 13 at 9 a.m. There are two ways to sign up:

 

1. At the library
Visit the Kids & Teens Ask Us Desk. You will set your reading goal and receive your participation log and a password in case you choose to record your progress online.


2. Online at ippl.info
Click on the Homemade Readers logo. Remember to write down your username and password - you will need them! The next time you are in the library, set your goal and pick up your participation log.

Set Your Goal

Because we are all different, each participant will set his/her own reading goal. When they reach their goal, they will receive one free book of their choosing and a ticket for the grand prize drawing. The books must have been read between June 13 and August 8 to count, and participants must show their completed log to a member of the Kids & Teens staff.


Re-up Your Goal
Once you've reached your goal, you will have an opportunity to s t re t c h yourself to read even more. If you reach your new stretch goal, you will earn an additional ticket for the grand prize drawing. Re-up as many times as you'd like.

How to Play
Complete the following steps for your chance to win one of five $20 gift cards to Anderson's Bookshop or Graham Crackers Comics. All participants who finish the Summer Reading Challenge will receive a free book and an invitation to Games-a-palooza on Aug. 8 at 6 p.m.


1. Get your Homemade Teens official punch card at the library.
2. Read a book/graphic novel or attend a library program.
3. Get your card punched at the library each time you complete Step 2.
4. After five punches, enter your card in the drawing and select a free book (free book for first entry only).
5. Repeat steps 1-4.

A Reader Lives Here! 

Kids and teens (birth-grade 12) can make a summer reading pledge. If they tell us how many books they will read this summer, they can get an A READER LIVES HERE! yard sign. (While supplies last. One sign per household, please.) Email a photo of you and your sign to [email protected], and you could be a winner!
