Help IPPL Design a Mascot
|
We are designing a library mascot, and we want your ideas!
Our mascot will be called an "IPPLpotamus," pronounced
ip-ul-pot-uh-muh s, and defined as a fictitious creature which is the mascot of IPPL.
What does an IPPLpotamus look like? Help us decide! Submit ideas, drawings, and/or a list of characteristics to the Kids & Teens Ask Us Desk March 1 through April 15, and watch for the IPPLpotamus this summer!

New Catalog to Premier April 14
| |
Using the Indian Prairie Public Library is about to get even better - a new online catalog will go live on April 14!
Our library's catalog is provided by SWAN, a network of 77 local libraries offering more than 8 million items, and the new catalog is part of SWAN's conversion to a new software system. (Please note: SWAN will be unavailable April 11-13 during software installation.)
It's not too early to get ready! Most of your account information will be automatically transferred to the new catalog, such as holds, checkouts, and reading history. However, your PIN will be reset to the last four digits of the primary phone number on your account. Please see our library staff to be sure that your phone number (and other information) is up-to-date by April 10! After April 14, you may change your PIN. Visit newcatalog.ippl.info for more information.
After April 14, look for these new features: * Easier search with autocorrect and title recommendations. * Ebook checkout and downloads directly from the catalog. * Search display includes research database information (coming May 2015). * Choose to receive notifications via text message.

ReDiscover: Celebrating Home
| |
For more than ten years, IPPL and neighboring libraries presented programs, book discussions, and other events inspired by one book in a program called The Big Read. Our new collaboration, ReDiscover, has the same great programs but focuses on one theme rather than one book. Learn more about this year's event at re-discover.org. Registration for programs begins Monday, March 2.
