Library Closings
|
The library will be closed Sunday, Aug. 31 and Monday, Sept. 1 for Labor Day. In addition, the library will be closed for DarienFest Friday, Sept. 5, 6-9 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 6, 1-5 p.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 7. Our book drops will be open, and our website, www.ippl.info, is available 24/7. You can also renew and reserve materials online.

Adult Services has two iPads which can be used in the library. They include apps for ESL, citizenship, geography, grammar, and more. Check them out at the Computer Help Desk.

Fall Openings in Gallery Display Cases
|
Do you have a collection, or create three-dimensional art such as pottery? If you or someone you know would like to display in our gallery, please email theresap@ippl.info. Both display cases are available in October, November, and December. Displays stay up for the entire month, and you can book a single case or both cases.

Sing-Along The Wizard of Oz

Follow the yellow brick road to our sing-along to The Wizard of Oz this Saturday, Aug. 23! There will be two showings:
* 10:30 a.m. for families with young children * 2 p.m. for school-age kids and adults Prizes will be given to anyone in costume. Refreshments will be served. Funded by the Friends of IPPL. Register here.

GenLit: A New Generation of Book Club

Our GenLit book group for 20-30somethings meets for drinks, dinner, and discussion at various local restaurants on the fourth Wednesday of the month January through October. The group's August discussion will focus on Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh. The group will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 27, starting at 6:30 p.m. at The Sweet & Savory Spot, 31 N. Cass Ave. in Westmont. September's discussion will review The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 6:30 p.m. at The Patio, 7440 S. Kingery Hwy. in Darien. Junction Programs

This year, we are going beyond books and reading and encouraging people to expand their horizons by attending programs. Join us at the Junction - IPPL Junction! - to learn something new, create from scratch, and share your knowledge with your neighbors. IPPL card-holders who participate in designated Junction programs will earn entries into monthly and grand prize drawings, donated by the Friends of IPPL.
