Jobs Fair Aug. 8

Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno and House Minority Leader Jim Durkin join IPPL in hosting a Jobs Fair on Friday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Darien Sportsplex, 451 Plainfield Rd. With almost 80 employers in attendance, participants should bring plenty of resumes and dress to impress. Workshops will include Navigating Through the State Employment Process, Stand-Out Resumes, Successful Interviewing, and Networking Your Way to a New Job.

Citizenship Assistance

Free legal consultations for immigrants will take place at IPPL on Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 9 a.m. to noon. These half-hour legal consultations on immigrant issues, including citizenship, will be provided by World Relief DuPage. Participants must make an appointment by calling (630) 887-8760 x239.

In addition, the library now has a new "citizenship corner" with books, DVDs, CDs, links to helpful citizenship sites, and brochures for local groups to help immigrants study for citizenship. Funds for these materials and programs were awarded by the Illinois State Library, a Division of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the federal Library Services and Technology Act.
