We met our $40,000 Fall Fund Drive goal and exceeded it by raising over $43,000! Thank you so much to all of the families, alumni, and grandparents who donated. We did our drawing at Whole School Community on Wednesday and Pam and Wade Howland were the lucky winners of a $200 Downtown Boise Gift card. Anser is a special place because of our amazing families, and the many ways you support our students. For all that you do, we are thankful. Thank you to all of the families listed below who donated to the Fall Fund Drive.

A Special Thank you for your Holiday Generosity:
| |
As part of the Junior High Expedition, our students have been studying the experiences of refugees and have been getting to know some local refugee students. Anser has been fortunate to have 3 employees who came to the United States as refugees. Abdi, Shankraron and Amina are all special members of our community, and do so much for us each and every day. As the Junior High Crew looked for ways they could serve their community through their expedition, they looked close to home. Abdi is studying pharmacology and hopes to apply to Pharmacy school this spring. Knowing the importance of education for all people, but especially for those new to our country, the junior high set a goal to raise enough funds to cover a semester of tuition for Abdi. And in a tremendous showing of generosity and compassion the Anser community responded! Thanks to the many of you who donated, the junior high raised enough to pay the full cost of the spring semester for Abdi! Abdi was overcome by this show of support when he was recognized at WSC. This life changing gift will be something he and his family remember for the rest of their lives and we thank all of you who made it possible.

| C-3 Recycled Art: | |
We have been having a great time in Recycled Art this session and have big plans for an installation for the school made from CDs! We would love to start collecting right away as we sketch out and design our work. Our goal is 1000+ CDs. If you have old CDs laying around, scratched or pristine that you don't use anymore, please send them to the Visual Arts studio at the back of the gym. There is a plastic tub just inside the door that you can drop them in. Thank you so much!!

| Collecting Labels: | |
Save those labels and box tops from your daily eaten food AND from the coming holiday foods. Labels and box tops earn Anser money and checks that are in turn used to buy Anser needed gym equipment, library items, and school supplies.
When in doubt, save the label and we will sort them out.
Labels are collected just inside the door in the front office.
Thanks.

Spare the Air- Turn off your Engines:
| | Parents, a friendly reminder to PLEASE turn off your engines when dropping off and picking up your children. Whether you are parked or in the drop off/pick-up line, if you are going to be stopped for more than 10 seconds, TURN OFF YOUR ENGINE. Idling your vehicle for more than 10 seconds uses more fuel than restarting the engine- save money, reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and improve the air quality around our school by turning your engine off. As we approach winter and the associated inversions, we hope you will support this anti-idling effort at Anser and commit to improving the air that our children breathe.

Student safety is a top priority at Anser:
| |
Drop off and pick up around our school can be crowded with pedestrians, Anser parent vehicles, and neighbor business traffic. Parents, when you are driving on campus (pick up lane and parking lot), please put down your cell phone so your undivided attention is on the children and cars around you. Family Council is posting "no cell phone" signs in these areas as a reminder to delay your phone calls a few minutes and keep our kids safe.
Please remind children and caregivers to use crosswalks and wait for the crossing guard before crossing the street or pickup lane exit. Parents, remember you are setting the example for safety and integrity in our community.
|
|
Tobacco Free reminder:
| |
Please remember all tobacco and nicotine products are prohibited on school grounds, during school and outside of school hours. This includes cigarettes, chewing tobacco, e-cigarettes, and nicotine containing lozenges.
