 DON'T BE THE MISSING LINK!
ANSER's spring auction is quickly approaching and we need ONLY two things from each of you.

1.        your help securing auction items and

2.        your Auction Frogs registration!

NO BODY WANTS TO BE THE MISSING LINK!  TO HELP YOU OUT,  WE HAVE PROVIDED THEM FOR YOU!

How to secure auction items:

We have made these two things easier than what you might find in your child's homework folder.  We promise...

For ideas on securing auction items, go to SignUp Genius for a list of local businesses who have donated to Anser's auction in the past.  After you sign up to solicit a donation, follow up with the business to request and pick up the donation.  Please submit a donation form for all donations.  Donation forms are due February 3. The first 100 people to donate will be entered into the raffle for an iTunes gift card.

How to register for Auction Frogs:

If you haven't already done so, please renew or create your Auction Frogs account by going to: http://ansercharterschool.afrogs.org/Once you sign up, you will have access to updated information about the Spring Auction, make donations, learn about sponsorship opportunities, preview auction items,  purchase tickets to the event, and more importantly bid on hot auction items that you won't want to slip away...like teacher time, girls night out, and  river trips!

Dates to remember:

February 3rd, auction items and donation forms are due...remember ITunes card raffle for the first 100!

March 14th, Spring Auction (this is six weeks earlier than in years past)

EC Box City on Display:

The Early Childhood crews will be displaying their Box Cities this weekend at the Future Cities Competition. The cities will be on display 9:00 am to 12:00 pm by the Simplot Ballroom in the Student Union Building. The competition is free and open to all.

 School Pool Parking Space drawing:

We will be drawing names for the dedicated School Pool parking space winner for February at Whole School Community on Wednesday January 29. If you car pool, please send Angie Temple the names of the families in your car pool to  by Tuesay January 28th to be entered into the drawing. And a big thank you to the many Anser families who car pool for being good enviromental stewards, and helping us ease traffic congestion around the school.

 Our Dessert Auction needs YOU!

The Spring Auction is coming up on March 14th and we need your yummy treats.  Share your love of cakes, tortes cupcakes or anything sweet with our Anser Community. Your donations can be lovingly created by you or purchased from your favorite local bakery to support the wonderful school our lucky kids attend.

My name is Tina Garcia and I was so excited when my daughter,Lily won the lottery for her 5th grade year.  She is now in 7th grade and my son, Cooper is in 1st grade.  Our family has loved Anser and I am thrilled to be giving back as this year's Dessert Auction Chair (fancy title....love that!)  I have been challenged to exceed last year's desert auction which raised over $2,000 and I love a challenge.  Please email me at [email protected]  with your sweet treats and make this year the best dessert auction yet!

Attention Anser Parents: BE IDLE-FREE

In light of the poor air quality and inversion we've been experiencing, you can do your part by turning off your engines in the pick-up/drop-off lines and in the parking lots. Idling for more than a few seconds uses more fuel than restarting the engine, and frequent restarting of your vehicle has little impact on the engine, battery and starter. We can reduce our vehicle emissions that contribute to poor air quality in our valley and around our school by turning our keys and being idle-free.

Anser t-shirts have been a great success!

Our students love seeing their names  and crew mates on the design.  Now the same design will be available in WHITE shirts, so look for display samples coming soon.  The final order deadline is January 31st, with delivery following in about a week.  Questions?  Contact Tamara Reames at 631-6768 or [email protected]

It's such a great program for girls grades 3-5!

C-3 Week of Reflection:
UC January 27th, MC January 28th, EC January 29th

Reflection days are opportunities for the C3 students to share what they have been working on in their sessions. This day is not so much about presenting a final product but more about sharing the work that has gone into a particular class. Parents are invited to join us on this reflection day. Sharing will be begin at 2pm on each day in the gym.

Think Sun! Think Fun! Think Sliding and Gliding! It's time to earn a full day pass to ROARING SPRINGS:

And the only thing students have to do to earn this fun pass is read! More fun!

Grades K-4 must read 600 minutes

Grades 5-6 must read 800 minutes

Any recreational reading counts, as long as it is above and beyond the required reading for school.

That means magazines, graphic novels, comic books, and even cereal boxes can count toward your minutes.

Print out the attached Student Chart and start recording your minutes today.

The due date to turn your Student Chart in to your teacher is St Patrick's Day--March 17th.  Mark your calendars!

Coffee Talk:

Remember when you used to have time to socialize like a grown-up and get to know people in your community in a casual, easy way? We'd like to give you the opportunity to do that here at ANSER! Come hang out with your fellow parents on the second Friday of every month in the ANSER gym. Enjoy a little coffee, a small snack and hopefully, a lot of conversation. We're holding our "Coffee Hour" at 8 am on  the following dates-

March 14

April 11

May 9

It's a great way to start your day before you go to work or return home after drop-off. Everyone is more than welcome!

Idaho School Nutrition Association Art Contest

Students can participate if they are interested; this is an extracurricular opportunity. They will need to print the entry form, make a drawing per the rules, and turn both in to the office before February 26, 2014.

Click here for: The official contest rules and entry form

Re-commitment forms have been mailed home:

In preparation for Anser's lottery, recommitment forms were sent out earlier this week. As required by Idaho Statute, all Anser families must complete the recommitment form by the deadline to re-enroll their students for the next academic year. If you did not receive your forms please contact the front office to get one. Please be sure to complete your form on time in order to insure your student's continued enrollment.

Forms are due by Tuesday, February 7, 2014.

January Lunch Menu

EXTRA-EXTRA - Don't forget that you can add an extra milk a la carte for .50 cents and an extra 1.50 for an a la carte slice of pizza. *These ala carte items will be charged to your child's lunch account.

*Please note that all students, regardless of whether they qualify for free or reduced lunch prices will be charged .50 for milk, if they have not ordered lunch, as we are unable to offer it for free outside of a full lunch.
