Fall Fund Drive: Treasure what you Treasure:

Here is a quick school funding tutorial. Schools are funded via enrollment and through levy funds. Charter schools don't receive levy funds which means they educate their students on average  25% less funding than a traditional school. For example Anser receives approximately $5700 per student, and Boise School District receives approximately $9300 per student. So each year we ask families and supporters to help us fill that gap in funding through a donation or pledge to the Fall Fund Drive. Do you treasure your  kindergartener's trip to the Bird Observatory? Do you treasure the wonder of your child when they see a butterfly emerge from its cocoon? Perhaps you treasure your child's opportunities to explore art or perform service at the Humane Society. We ask you to join your fellow Anser families in treasuring your children's education with a donation or monthly pledge to the Fall Fund Drive. Together we can make sure Anser students have all of these opportunities and more!  Thank you to the following people for their donations: Steven and Tamara Reames, Judy and Jason Richards, David Scott, Greg and Jessie Deason, Ollie and Laurisa Lusby, Mike and Juanita Denney, Matt and Emily Barnett, Jasmine Berrier and Dylan Stocker, Katie and Kevin Scanlan, Pam and Wade Howland, John and Stacy Slattery, Erin and Matt McCarter and  Scott and Catrina Thomas.

Congratulations to the first Fall Fund Drive Drawing Winners!

We met our first milestone of raising $10,000 for the Fall Fund Drive last week! As part of this fundraising effort we will celebrate with a drawing among donors when we hit the $10K, $20K, $30K and $45K milestones! Congratulations to Ruth Thayer for winning a $50 gift certificate to Epitome and to Tom and Tamara Donovan for winning a $50 gift card to Bandana Running Store.  Get your donations in soon and you will be in the drawing for all of the remaining drawings still to come!

Save the Date:

This year's Anser Spring Auction and Dinner is scheduled for Friday March 14th. This is a month earlier than in past years, so our amazing auction chairs Emily Barnett and Amy Taylor have already begun their work to make the event a success!  Be on the lookout for information about how you can help make this fantastic event a success!

Harvest Ball 2013:

Hello Anser Crew!  I hope that you've received your invitation to the Harvest Ball, October 19th,Saturday night from 6:30-9pm.   As you may have heard at Back to School Night, Family Council thought that the best way of approaching this event is in the classic Anser every-other-year rotation between the Harvest Ball (a dance in the gymnacafetorium) and the Harvest Carnival (the games, food & music on the playground).  We figured this was the best of both worlds.  There will be better lighting for the Harvest Ball this year, and we look forward to seeing you have a special moment during the mother-son dances and the father-daughter dances.  Also, there will be no professional photographs, as that seems to not be necessary.

If you are interested in being a part of the decorating committee, or are able to help with the clean up at the end of the night, we would love your help.  Contact Erin McCarter at [email protected] .  Next week you will receive an order form so you can avoid the ticket purchase line and just head straight through to Check In.  Remember, this is a family event. Children are not allowed to be dropped off unattended and no play weapons (even Gandalf's staff . . . we know what happened there).

Youth Council is now Anser Service Team:

To help continue our spirit of service Anser Youth Council will now be called Anser Service Team and will be geared towards students taking an active part to serve people in the Anser Community and beyond. Anser Service Team is open to any 5th-8th grader. The Service Team will meet every 1st and 3rd Tuesday from 3:15pm-4:15pm in the library.  Applications are located on the bulletin board by the downstairs bathrooms, and should be turned into Sarah Wilcox's box by September 30th. If you have any questions please contact Sarah at [email protected]
