 2013-2014 Anser Calendar:
Next Year's Calendar has been uploaded to the Anser Website on the Forms page. http://www.ansercharterschool.org/admissions-administration/forms/

In the works are changes to the Website Calendar that will make it downloadable to your smart phone. Have any other ideas on things to add to the Anser website that would be helpful to families? Do you work in Wordpress and would like to help with the website?  Let Heather Dennis know! hdennis@ansercharterschool.org

The 19th annual Mayors' Awards to Youth:

Congratulations to Anser 8th grade students Owen Olsen Smith and Sierra Roden for receiving this great honor. The Mayors' Awards to Youth program highlights and honors young people who have demonstrated tremendous character by rising above hardships, displaying kindness and consideration to others and working to enhance their communities. Since 1994, principals from Ada County junior, middle, and high schools have nominated two students to be recognized at the event, with alternative school leaders allowed one nomination.

Way to go Sierra and Owen!

Service Opportunity for Anser families and JH Students:

Paddle Out Cancer - A Fun Float on the Boise River benefitting River Discovery's river adventure programs for cancer Survivors.  Event included Poker Run, tons of prizes, raffle items, costume contest, and after float festivities with food and fun!

What we would hope students and families could do:

Assist with Paddle Out Cancer pre-logistics and prep - including

  •          Anser team planning; theme, costume ideas, promo ideas to recruit other families or a competition with other Anser class/boats/families
  •          Assist with additional team recruitment and marketing
  •          Plan and prep for 'kids theme area' at POC's after float festivities
  •          Volunteer hours for event

 8th grade Parents:

We need your son or daughter's pictures.  We need photos of your graduate for the "Now and Then" slide show.  Please send in a current and past picture (typically a baby or toddler photo) so these can be scanned for the slide show.  Clearly mark your child's name on the back of the photo.  There is an envelope in the front office where you can drop these off.  Or you can send these to your child's crew leader.  Digital copies are even better.  You can submit these electronically to sabrinagary@gmail.com.  PLEASE SUBMIT BY Tuesday APRIL 23RD.  Thanks!

Walk to Cure Diabetes
EC student Kennedy Howland is looking for classmates to join her in the Walk to Cure Diabetes on May 4th at Ann Morrison Park.  Kennedy and her friend, Jack Cook, both have Type I Diabetes and are trying to raise $5000 toward diabetes research. This is their third year organizing Team Kennedy and Jack!  There is no registration fee to sign up for the walk - this year's theme is Cowboy Up! for a Cure.  To join Kennedy's team or for more information, please go to http://www2.jdrf.org   or email Pam Howland at phowland@hollandhart.com
After school music instruction:

A number of Anser families have expressed interest in having afterschool band instruction at Anser. Boise School District would be willing to send an instructor if we can get enough people to sign up.  Please let us know if your student would be interested in participating in a fee based afterschool band next year by emailing  Laurisa Lusby at lrlusby@yahoo.com  or 921-3501. m

Also, if your child is interested, they can take part in the Boise School District Summer Music Program.  http://music.school.boiseschools.org/modules/groups/integrated_home.phtml?gid=3704566&sessionid=791f710c8f9582bf615f0d635c1d66e8
