- Identify and address the cultural denial that surrounds the issue of child sexual abuse.
- Take steps to help strengthen your family by becoming a knowledgeable, approachable, compassionate and empowered adult.
The training will be held Tuesday February 26th, from 6:00pm-9:00pm at Anser. Please RSVP to Jane Zink at jzink@idahoaeyc.org Back To Top |

 | Congratulations Alyssa Munch! | | |
Shu's Idaho Running Company is please to announce the winner of our 3rd Annual Shu's Inspirational Award. Alyssa Munch of Boise, ID is that recipient.
This will be presented on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 1pm. Anser parents are welcome to attend.
She was chosen from a large group of talented and inspiring people in the Treasure Valley and surrounding areas. Alyssa teaches some fitness classes at the YMCA and also has formed a running group that meets for early morning trail runs. When she is not running or teaching a Body Sculpting class she is a PE teacher at Anser Charter School where she is very creative and engaging with the kids!
We are excited to have, the First Lady of Idaho, Lori Otter present this award to Alyssa. When we first started talking about an award like this, we really just wanted to do something different. Once a decision was made that we were going to move forward several things went into consideration. We wanted to find that person who does a lot for everyone whether an individual, a foundation or the community. Sometimes these people are not recognized much and we wanted to do something special.

 . | The Art Space: February 17th-March 31st 2013
| | |
Under the guidance of Artist and Educator Dolly Higgins, her 5th and 6th grade class from Anser Charter School has created an installation piece to be presented in the Art Space in Eagle. This collaborative site-specific work entitled "Uncompromising" is based on questions formulated after an in depth study of the Civil War and the Civil Rights Movement. The students have generated a beautifully colorful, imaginative and thoughtful piece. The installation opens February 17th and runs through March 31st.
Uncompromising Work by 5th and 6th Grade students at Anser Charter School
People's perspectives change history and start wars. At Anser Charter School, our class of 5th and 6th graders was inspired by a deep study of the Civil Rights Movement and events that led to our country's Civil War. We wanted to capture the anger, passion, and flames that shaped opinions in our country. As we collaborated, we realized that our viewpoints define what we believe, what we teach, and what we see-even today.
Using Plexiglas and acrylic paint, we designed abstract representations of individual and collective viewpoints. We tried to capture the emotion that shapes how we see issues in our everyday world. The painted pieces will be hung in arrangements, linked to show that each opinion affects other viewpoints. As viewers experience the art, the paintings will block-as well as reveal-other ideas and emotions, leaving us with the questions: How do we find common ground? How do our passions color our everyday experiences? When should we question our own precious beliefs?

 | CBC Reminders: | |
- Send your child to school on the five Ski/SB Wednesdays with all their snow clothes in a bag or backpack. The children will be dressing at school at ~12:00 pm. Dressing for school in their long underwear, sweats, or whatever their first layer will be, will allow them to get ready in the classrooms or at their lockers and will cut down on the bathroom chaos.
- Skis, boards, boots and poles can be dropped off in the gym on Wednesday mornings.
- Helmets are available to rent at Bogus for $6 per week, but they cannot be reserved in advance. The easiest way to handle this is to zip the cash in your child's jacket or snowpants each week(making sure he/she knows it's there! We wouldn't say that if it hadn't happened. More than once.) and they can make the transaction. However, if you aren't confident that this will work for your child, then give the money (correct change appreciated) to Heather B. or the office and a chaperone will take care of it.
- If your child is riding to and/or from Bogus in your or someone else's vehicle rather than on the bus, you must let Heather B. know your plans via email or written note in advance by Monday at 9am each week. Your child will have to ride the bus unless advance arrangements are made. NO LAST MINUTE CHANGES EXCEPT IN CASE OF ILLNESS.
- If a student is staying at Bogus for ski team practice, please let Heather know that in advance.
- Car drivers must sign out all passengers before we leave ANSER each Wednesday and before we leave Bogus after the lesson. This may seem picky, but it's only for five sessions and it will ensure there are no breakdowns in communication. A special sign-out sheet will be located at the office area each Wednesday.
- You'll be hungry after the lesson so an après-ski snack needs to come from home(no Bogus food purchases allowed). Non-messy food please- no popcorn or little stuff that is disgusting to clean up from the floor of the bus. Apples, sandwiches, or granola/snack bars are good choices, along with a water bottle. Please avoid peanut products as we have students with peanut allergies in the school who will be on the bus.
No Parking in the Pick up Line when Bogus Buses Return to Anser ~THANK-YOU |
 | Roaring Readers Program
| | |
The only day of the year that issues a command? March 4th!
Hopefully your child can march forth to Roaring Springs this summer with a free full-day ticket in hand.
Students have less than a month to reach their reading minutes and turn their Student Charts in by the deadline--March 4th!
Use the five day weekend this month to knock out those reading minutes. Remember, minutes required for class assignments don't count. Head up to the ANSER library to find good books and read, read, read!

 | Anser ECS Crew is seeking help:
| | |
Years ago, there was a drive for phonebooks to put in the Tech Lab for our youngers, as there are only big chairs in there for them to sit at, and this group of little ones need to be able to plant their feet while working. We asked for the large phonebooks to duct tape together as footstools for that room, and over the last couple of years with the growth they have been misplaced or lost. We need to replace this vital tool for our media room, so the drive for phonebooks is back on!
It takes 2-3 phone books to make one footstool if we use the 2-3 inch thick variety. If you have any of these lying around your home and want to give them to a good cause, or would like to donate regular footstools for our young generation of learners, please send them to ANSER for the ECS crew!
We are also in need of some rocker boards for our classroom toolboxes! These are a necessity to our learning environment in our classrooms. They are so easy to make, and the kids love the ones that are made out of old skateboard decks. If you or someone you know would be willing to donate these hot ticket items to our classrooms, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
