Drop off and Pick up Procedures:

Drop off and Pick up Procedures

Below you will find the procedures for ANSER pick up and drop off of students beginning 1/14/13. Please be aware that our primary concern is for the safety of our students. The practices we have implemented are meant to reduce the contact between students and cars, as well as decrease wait times. We ask that you follow these procedures to help us insure the safety of our students. If you have any questions about the procedures please do not hesitate to contact us.

Elementary Student Dismissal (NEW!)

At 3:15pm teachers will escort students to the hallway to gather their belongings. They will line their students up and walk them to the chain link fence on the playground at the marker designated for their class and then the teacher will dismiss them. ALL students will be expected to walk with their classmates to the playground. We encourage families to wait on the playground for their student to join them when they have been released.

If a parent is present and waiting for their child in the hallway, a teacher will release the student to the parent before they walk to the playground. A student will not be released to meet their parents elsewhere in the building.

Kindergarten and AAYC Dismissal (New!)

The newly extended fence on the playground will be locked during the day. The gate will be unlocked just prior to Kindergarten pick up time and AAYC pick up time. At pick up times, parents may walk through the gate to retrieve their students inside the classroom. All other times of day parents need to enter through the main entrance of the school, sign in, and acquire a visitors badge before proceeding to the kindergarten classroom.

Junior Dismissal (Same)

Students are released at 2:55pm. They are expected to gather their belongings, and proceed to the playground to be picked up. We ask that if your Junior High student does not have a younger sibling that you pick them up by 3:10 to help with traffic congestion. Once students have left the building they should not return unless accompanied by a parent through the front entrance.

Drop off and pick up along the playground fence line (New!)

Vehicles enter through North Entrance. No left turns from 42nd St. into the drop off line are allowed. Those wishing to load/unload students should move as far forward into the "Drop-off/Pick -up lane as possible. Students should exit only from the right side of their vehicle and use the pedestrian walkway to travel to the playground. After loading/unloading drivers may pull out of the "Drop-off/Pick-up" lane, into the "Traffic lane" and proceed forward to exit the property at the South exit. No cars may be left unattended in the Drop-off/Pick up" lane.

Notes on using the Pick up Line:

  • Between 3:20pm and 3:35pm a 3 minute time limit for the first four cars in the pick up line will be strictly enforced.
  • 3 minutes is the maximum amount of time that the first four cars may be in the pick up line. The Playground attendant will be timing cars and will hold up a red card and ask you to leave if you have been in line longer than three minutes.
  • If you are asked to leave the pick up line, please remember you cannot turn left out of the line and then turn left back into the line as this blocks visibility of the crosswalk.
  • ANY INSTANCE OF A PARENT INSTRUCTING THEIR CHILD TO WALK ACROSS THE PICK UP LINE TO ACCESS THEIR PARKED CAR OR TO GET INTO A CAR IN THE TRAFFIC LANE WILL BE GROUNDS FOR BEING BANNED FROM THE PICK UP LINE.

Parents may also choose to park in the parking spaces adjacent to the Drop-off/Pick up lane and walk in with their students. Please use the sidewalk after exiting your car, and walk to the South exit closest to the school , where you may cross the exit lane when accompanied by the crossing guard and walk behind the red painted curbing to proceed to the playground.

Access at the Main Entrance

AM ACCESS: There is no drop off allowed at the front entrance. If your child needs to enter the building before school they must be accompanied by an adult. You will need to park your car and walk in with your student. No children may enter the building unaccompanied by an adult before 8:15am.

PM ACCESS: There is no pick up allowed at the front entrance. Do not ask your student to wait for you anywhere beside the playground. Asking your student to wait in the front parking lot creates a hazardous situation for students and drivers. Parents are welcome to park and enter the building at the end of the school day. We ask that you sign in and that you be mindful of the volume of conversation in the hallways.

If your child is tardy: Please park your car and walk your child into the building where they need to sign in and receive a tardy slip before they proceed to class.

Street Parking and Crosswalk

An ANSER crossing guard will be on duty from 7:40 am-8:15am and from 2:50pm-3:35pm. We ask that you please cross 42nd street only at the cross walk. This will increase safety and teach our students safe habits.

CBC/Electives Drop off (NEW!)

CBC Drivers: We know parking at the end of the CBC day can be very challenging. So we hope this procedure will ease concerns for CBC Drivers. Upon returning to school, please enter the front parking lot and proceed to the turn around. A CBC staff person will be waiting there, beginning at 3:10pm to supervise the drop off. Children may exit your vehicle under the supervision of the CBC staff person and walk along the sidewalk into the building. Those students will be directed to the gym to collect their belongings that were organized there before they left for the CBC session and will then be escorted to the playground by the CBC Module Coordinators.

Electives Drivers: Please follow the same drop off procedures outlined above for CBC. An Electives staff person will be waiting beginning at 2:50pm.Students will go to the Junior High wing of the building to collect their belongings at their lockers and then go the playground to be picked up.

Re-commitment Forms are due:

Re-commitment forms were mailed out this week and are due back by February 5th. If you did not receive your re-commitment letter in the mail please stop by the front office and pick one up. Also, please make sure that if you have a kindergarten sibling or sibling that you are enrolling in the 2013-2014 lottery that you fill out an enrollment application in addition to the re-commitment form. You can find an enrollment application by clicking the link below. Please note that this only needs to be done for "new students," those students who are returning need only fill out the recommitment form.

CBC

All students turned in signed copies of the 5 tenets agreement!  What an amazing school we have.  CBC was a great success on Wednesday.  Thank you to all of the parents and teachers who took the time to talk about the importance of CBC at Anser.  We appreciate the continued support you give these valuable programs.

Thanks!

Heather

A Brick on the Wall:
The Anser Community raised over $1100.00 for the Rose Beal Legacy Garden. We are very proud of this effort and our Anser Community. THANK-YOU!

The Rose Beal Legacy Garden is a project that is near and dear to the JH. both the Human Rights Center and Rose have played a huge role in our expeditions and our education as human beings over the years.

During WWII, the only piece of nature Ann Frank could see out of her attic window during the Holocaust was a chestnut tree. That chestnut tree was sadly infected and had to be cut down a few years ago, but luckily they were able to save 100 seeds. From those seeds they grew saplings, and six of those have been sent to the U.S. One is going to be planted in the Ann Frank Memorial in the new Rose Beal Garden. All schools in Boise who raise $300 or more get their name carved into one of the new bricks being installed around the Garden.

Snowflakes for School:
We are down to the last few weeks of snowflakes. We will be adding additional items through the end of January. Many of the teachers have been adding their wishlists to the hanging snowflakes. If you want a sneak peek at some of the items the snow has brought in check inside the front office. We have basketballs, soccer balls, ball pumps, sand has been delivered and more. Our parents are so awesome!
Some of you may have noticed the blue and white snowflakes hanging from the tree's near the front office. The snowflakes have tags with wish list items for teachers and the playground. Some of the tags may have items like basketballs, sand and flag football organizers.

If you want to help it's easy just follow-these steps:
1. Grab a tag off the snowflake with the wish item
2. Purchase the item
3. Drop it off in the front office
4. Make the school HAPPY!

This is a project brought to you by Anser Student Council
