 | Fall Fund Drive: RESTORE ANSER!
| | |

We have raised $43,800 and are just $1,200 from reaching our $45,000 goal!!! What an amazing show of support from our Anser families, we so appreciate it! We will be doing the final drawing among our Fall Fund Driver donors next Wednesday December 19th at Whole School Community. If you have been thinking of making a monthly pledge or donation, but have not yet done so hurry to get it in by Tuesday December 18th to be added to the drawing. And thank you to everyone who has made a monthly pledge or donation for supporting CBC, Electives, Expedition, SOS, Youth Council, science materials, literature circle books, art supplies, PE equipment, keeping the lights on! All funds raised through the Fall Fund Drive are used to support the operation of the school. So every dollar you donate goes directly into the running of the school, helping to keep the lights on and learning flowing! Thank you to the following families for donating to the Fall Fund Drive: Ryan and Alicia Howell and Kathleen Carr

 | Drop off/Pick up Reminders for this week:
| | |
Please remember there is no drop off or pick up allowed at the front entrance of the school. Only students accompanied into the building and supervised by a parent are allowed to enter the school through the front doors before 8:15am. We have this rule because it is very unsafe to allow your children to run through a parking lot unaccompanied. Anser provides supervision of students before school on the playground and that is where students need to be until their teacher brings them in to start the day. If we continue to see parents dropping their children off unaccompanied at the front doors we will be forced to lock those doors until school starts at 8:15am. For reminders on how to do Drop off and Pick up at Anser please refer to our website on the forms page where you can find the procedures listed. Link to the forms page: http://www.ansercharterschool.org/admissions-administration/forms/

 | CBC: Diversity and Inclusivity
| | |
Yesterday student registration forms were sent home with your students on TEAL paper. They will be due back by 8:30 on Friday (tomorrow) morning to the classroom teacher. The CBC committee will collect student registration forms at that time and conduct the lottery. Late forms (received after 8:30 am) will be put on the bottom of the lottery pile and students who do not complete a form will be placed last.
The lottery is well under way by 9 am and concludes usually around 11 am. Any forms after 11 am will be considered not turned in.

 | Anser Science Olympiad Team - Bringing Science to Life

There will be an informational open house about this year's Anser Science Olympiad team after school, this Thursday December 13th, in the Junior High science room.
Science Olympiad is open to students in 6th-8th grade. Team members prepare for one or more science events through a process of exploration and experimentation. Last year's team had excellent results in all of our events and medalled in two - a remarkable showing for our very first year.

 | A Brick on the Wall Fundraiser:
| | |
The Rose Beal Legacy Garden is a project that is near and dear to the JH. Both the Human Rights Center and Rose have played a huge role in our expeditions and our education as human beings over the years.
During WWII, the only piece of nature Ann Frank could see out of her attic window during the Holocaust was a chestnut tree. That chestnut tree was sadly infected and had to be cut down a few years ago, but luckily they were able to save 100 seeds. From those seeds they grew saplings, and six of those have been sent to the U.S. One is going to be planted in the Ann Frank Memorial in the new Rose Beal Garden. All schools in Boise who raise $300 or more get their name carved into one of the new bricks being installed around the Garden.
Anser Charter School is taking part in this fundraiser and everyone who donates a dollar gets their name put on a paper brick. Our goal is to cover the gym wall with hundreds of brick! Our bricks will be for sale, $1 for per brick, in the gym during lunch and outside after school for the next two weeks.
We have gone around to each class to give an in depth description of what we are trying to accomplish. Please help us by buying a brick or two or five to keep the memory of Ann Frank alive and to honor a woman who has given us so much, Rose Beal.

 | Anser School Spirit Wear is Here:
| | |
Today the Spirit Wear display went up by the front office. This year Family Council is offering a variety of things that we think you'll really enjoy. First, we have cotton t-shirts and performance wear shirts. Most of the sizes are on display and parents are encouraged to come and look at the sizes before you buy. All printing is done to order.
Ladies cut t-shirts are available, but they run in a "junior fit" cut, so they do run small - but will work great for UC, JH and women. Performance wear is the wicking, quick-dry material - great for hiking, snow sports, basket ball, soccer, or anything!
We are also offering two styles of knit hats that are embroidered with the Anser school logo. We've already had a lot of great feedback from the kids on the hats!
Lastly, we've got bumper stickers! We know it's been awhile since bumper stickers were offered, and now you have a chance to show your school pride even when you're driving to work!
The kids will receive a paper order form to come home with them, and there are also order forms at the display. Please, checks only. Tax is included in the prices. You can have the children turn in the order forms with a check stapled to it, either to their teacher or into the front office. All orders must be collected by December 20th, but anytime prior to that works great, as well. Orders will be delivered in January. Also, we plan on offering another ordering opportunity in 2013.
Thanks to everyone for being a part of a great crew!

 | Winter Weather Closures:
| | |
Anser follows the same Adverse Weather closure guidelines as the Boise School District. It there is bad weather and Boise School District closes school, Anser will also close school. We will attempt to send out an email letting families know, or will put a notice on the Anser website, but the most reliable source for determining if school will be open during bad winter weather will be to watch the local news in the morning before schools starts to see if the Boise School District has announced a school closure due to weather.
