Fall Fund Drive: RESTORE ANSER!

We are thankful for each and every family who shares their children with us each school day. We are thankful for the parents who attend Student Led Conferences, Back to School Night  and Exhibition Nights. We are thankful for the parents who donate their time in the classroom, in CBC and Electives, on field work or by helping teachers with projects. We are thankful for you. As Thanksgiving nears, let us take a moment to thank you for what you do each and every day to make Anser a success. And let us thank the 94 Anser families who have made a donation to the Fall Fund Drive. The funds raised are used to keep the doors open, keep the lights on and provide our students with the unique programs only Anser offers. We have raised $35,000 of our $45,000 goal. But we still need to raise at least $10,000 more to reach our goal and to hopefully surpass it. Time is running out for this year, and Anser is depending on all of our families to join in the effort to fill the funding gap. As we head into this busy time of year we hope you will take a moment if you haven't already to consider how you and your family could support the Fall Fund Drive and all of Anser's students. Thank you to the following families for your donation to the Fall Fund Drive: Paul and Brenda Marosvari, Ashley Brogdon and Gary Gettman, David and Joann Wampler, Brian and Angie Marshall, Josie and Clay Erskine, and Mark and Terry Wibbels.

Infinite Campus Parent Portal:

Directly after we return from Thanksgiving break we will send out Infinite Campus Parent portal activation codes to junior high students and parents via mail. These keys will allow you to create an account on Infinite Campus in order to allow our junior high students and their parents to monitor their assignments. We will not be sending these activation codes to families with only elementary students because the Parent Portal will not be used to track assignments or grades for elementary students.

Winter Weather Closures:

Anser follows the same Adverse Weather closure guidelines as the Boise School District. It there is bad weather and Boise School District closes school, Anser will also close school. We will attempt to send out an email letting families know, or will put a notice on the Anser website, but the most reliable source for determining if school will be open during bad winter weather will be to watch the local news in the morning before schools starts to see if the Boise School District has announced a school closure due to weather.

Math Night for Parents

Parents are in for a treat the evening of November 15 beginning at 6:30.  Dr. Jonathan Brendefer, a Boise State University professor, who started the Developing Mathematical Thinking (DMT)  project will be our guest speaker.  The DMT Project was started in 2004. The project orginally partnered with three schools in the Boise, Caldwell, and Emmett communities of southwestern Idaho and is now an excepted way of teaching mathematics in the state of Idaho.  In fact, every teacher who becomes certified in Idaho must take the class for certification. Parents will have an opportunity to listen to Dr. Brendefer, ask questions, then go into their child's classroom to learn about Anser's math program and to experience some of the ways in which we "do math" at Anser.

This is something you do not want to miss!

Lost and Found items will be donated on Thanksgiving break:

Please take a moment to look through the lost and found bin in the gym as it is literally overflowing with very nice coats, jackets, hats, sweaters etc. These are items we are sure you would want your children to bring home before they disappear from your household forever!

Junior High Parents:

Dear Junior High Parents,

Here is the link to the signupgenius created for this upcoming Service Elective Session.  The session begins the Thursday after thanksgiving break, on November 29th.  We will need drivers for that week and each week after.  Please make sure to sign up.  On the signupgenius under each elective name will be the amount of students in the elective needing transportation.  When you sign up in the comment box please list the number of students you can carry in your car.  Almost all of the Electives will be leaving school this track so we will need a lot of parent drivers.  Please sign up to drive at least once during the session.  Our students depend on this time to complete their service assignments.

Thanks!

Heather and Susan

SAVE THE DATE:

"FUNDING OUR FUTURE"

Mark your calendars for Friday, April 26th 2013.  It's never too early to start planning for ANSER's annual spring event.  We are happy to announce that this year's theme is Funding Our Future! and will be held just down the street at The Riverside Hotel on Chinden Boulevard.

We are making some very exciting changes this year including our first-ever online auction, important auction links on the ANSER website, and online ticket sales.  We are also seeking community partners to help us underwrite the event.  We are asking our ANSER community to help recruit supporters for the auction.  If you know anyone who would be interested in supporting a great cause while promoting their business, please present them with the sponsor request letter.  ANSER families live and work all over the Treasure Valley, so word of mouth promotions are far-reaching.

To find more information about this year's auction, please go to the "What's Happening" link on ANSER's website.  If you have any questions or would be interested in helping out with the auction, contact one of the three auction chairs.
