Stevens Middle Scool Recognized for Sportsmanship
Stevens Middle School was one of only three middle schools in Washington to earn a sportsmanship award from the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA).

"We took our sportsmanship campaign to a whole other level. Being one of three schools out of thousands in the state is awesome," says Principal Charlotte Troxel. "We're never going to win a state title at the middle school level, but this comes close!"

Schools must complete a variety of items to earn the award including displaying a "Give Me 5" banner, having student-athletes and their parents sign a sportsmanship pledge, and having students participate in a leadership conference.

The "Give Me 5" program is based on five core principles: honor, sportsmanship, courage, respect, and citizenship and was developed to encourage schools to practice and promote the positive and educational attributes of their activities programs.

Dutch Bros. Coffee Raises Funds for School Supplies
Dutch Bros. Coffee of Richland and Pasco joined together recently with the community to raise $5,350 to purchase school supplies for local schools. The six Dutch Bros. locations throughout the Tri-Cities donated $1 of every drink sold during their school supply drive.

On Sept. 3, Pasco Dutch Bros. Coffee owners Meghan and Brad Barnes, along with their employees, delivered a variety of supplies for Pasco schools to the District's donation center at the Parent Ed Center.

"Thank you Dutch Bros! Your generous support is appreciated not only by our staff but most importantly, by the hundreds of students who will use the items this year!" says Special Programs Coordinator Lorraine Landon.
