Dear Parents,

Dr. and Mrs. Barrett have graciously invited BASIS to a reception for this year's Annual Teacher Fund to honor those who have given most generously. The new eligibility threshold of $2,000 will insure that we're not exceeding the maximum allowable attendance. Individual donors who utilize their company's matching program will be able to combine those amounts to determine eligibility.

Our goal is $305,000 and parents have generously donated $208,500. We still need $91,500 that will go to help us hire new teachers, and reward top-performing teachers.

Enjoy Spring Break with your kids!

AeroSpace Club

Welcometo our BASIS Chandler's  Aerospace  Club led by our AP Physics teacher, Bob Woolley.  Since they have been meeting, the students have  investigated aerodynamic theory, supersonic airflow, aircraft and rocket stability and controls, jet and rocket engine design and technology and model rocket designs and performance last semester. The club has constructed small flyable model planes, a large electrically powered radio-control glider, a dozen two-stage rockets, and a 3-engine cluster rocket. Mr. Woolley also offers flying lessons and "stick time" on flight simulation software the club purchased.

Recently, the club has acquired a more powerful 2-stage rocket, a more powerful single stage rocket using E-engines and a larger radio-control glider. Inexperienced members are teamed up with more experienced members for construction projects and members are organized into Pre-launch, Launch, and Recovery teams during our many rocket launches, ultimately with every member understanding every role in each activity.

In the future, the club will continue building and flying planes and rockets to gain a better understanding of aerospace engineering and applications.
