Hard to believe summer is upon us! We certainly hope everyone has some fun plans for the next few months to re cooperate and enjoy the wonderful weather! Speaking of summer, we're almost to the midpoint of the year. That said, have you filed your financial flight plan for the rest of the year (or even next few years)? You'll notice a new face in the near future at the office as we're hiring another Client Accounting Specialist in the next week or two. This individual will be helping Sylvia and Cathy with some of our accounting needs. If you swing by the office, please introduce yourself. Once we have this person hired, we'll shoot out a quick bio so that you can get a little information on our new team member!
As you know, we moved to the cloud at the beginning of the year for all of our tax and accounting products. As part of that, we'll be starting to use portals for all of our clients in order to facilitate communication. Going forward, we'll be sending you copies of any notice responses, copies of tax returns or other communications via our internet portal. This way, your documents are secure and easy to access. If you're interested in getting your copy of your tax return electronically through the portal, let us know and we'll change you over to that (rather than giving you a paper copy if you so choose).
For those of you thinking about starting a business in New Mexico, we recommend you file the Articles of Organization with the NM Public Regulation Commission sooner than later. Due to some software "bugs", NMPRC is taking significantly longer to process paperwork. We have seen cases where the paperwork took 3-4 months to complete. So, if business ownership is in your future, send in that paperwork ASAP, unless you want to pay the expedite fee of $100 - $150.
