April Research Workshop
On April 25th ABCD researchers met, in person and by video conference, to share their plans for research resulting from the Citizens' Panel and to hear feedback from others.
Keeping track of the process ABCD will continue to document learning from this process and all of our efforts, from how we work together as a diverse group of researchers and practitioners to how to collaborate with municipal governments. This 'developmental evaluation' is an important aspect of ABCD overall mandate.
What's Next? City Administration and the Edmonton Deliberation Core Team (David Kahane, ABCD; Fiona Cavanagh, CPI; Jacquie Dale, One World; and Mary Pat MacKinnon, Assentum) will continue to meet to discuss methods for keeping Panelists engaged and the City accountable as the Panel's recommendations inform energy and transition planning in Edmonton.
Visit ABCD's website for the whole story of the Citizens' Panel including recent media coverage.

ABCD Working Paper Series
ABCD will support member of our team by publishing a series of working papers. This is an opportunity for ABCD members to share grey literature, preprints, and other products of interest to our researcher and practitioner communities. Gwendolyn Blue and Laurie Adkin, both ABCD researchers, have agreed to edit the ABCD Working Paper Series. Gwen and Laurie will arrange for peer review and provide feedback to authors prior to papers being available on our website. Read the first paper in the series: Stakeholder and Citizen Roles in Public Deliberation ABCD members teamed up with KULE funded researchers and Australia-based experts to explore stakeholder groups and individual citizen roles in public deliberation. A workshop hosted at UofA (with video conferencing to bring in Australian participants) took place last year and resulted in a paper by David Kahane, Kristjana Loptson, Jade Herriman, and Max Hardy, currently under review by a key journal in the field.
