#Gratitude!
As we head into Thanksgiving, I am reminded how much I have to be grateful for this year. The first is the opportunity to serve great causes and humanitarians, and to work on cool projects with cool people. Recently, my friend and colleague, Randy Haykin, invited me to be one of a handful of strategic coaches for select social impact ventures honored by The Gratitude Network. I've been honored to provide guidance to three of the 2015 Gratitude Award finalists: Vendedy, Library For All, and The Reset Foundation. At a recent gathering of all nine of the 2015 finalist awardees, Jane Mitchell, the Co-Founder and CEO of The Reset foundation, set an intention to raise $750,000 to build a campus that would re-purpose criminal justice dollars into a program to keep young people out of prison and, instead, surround them with the resources they need to transform their lives. Only a few weeks later, Jane is well on her way, having just won a $500,000 grant from Google to support her vision! No surprise to me, of course. The power of focused intention is unrelenting and it never ceases to accomplish and inspire.
I'm also inspired by an endless list of friends and colleagues who are a constant source of powerful feedback and camaraderie, decades after our earliest encounters in some instances. After a recent article I published on Spotify where I mentioned Apple, a long-time friend and colleague (who is a highly respected digital music thought leader) reached out to share some salient points he definitely disagreed with. I wrote to thank him, of course, and this was his reply which I loved and felt led to share:
Kelli, Apple would be smart to turn their music division over to you. They made false gods of Iovine and Dre, both guys in need of money to keep private jets flying and supporting their over-the-top, dinosaur music lifestyles.
Things are cattywumpus over there, a great stain and a shame on an otherwise fine brand. You adore them, and so I excuse your excess in their favor, but seriously they should acknowledge both your loyalty and your experience with the leadership role over this flagging ship of theirs.
Apple needs music. Music needs Apple. Not going so good over there anymore, and that coincides with the arrival of the Beats team, almost all of which is disappearing with nearly 4 billion in their pockets.
(This is why we endeavor to nourish and maintain these cherished relationships, right?)
Finally, I have a powerful team of virtual superheroes who support me at every turn, and who help me to serve my clients and community with unwavering commitment and professionalism. My right hand woman, Joanne Lehmkuhl is one of the best VAs in the business - and she's also a close friend and advisor on my events. (You can find out more about Joanne here: http://virtualmsmoneypenny.com.) A huge thanks goes to my friend & long-time copywriter Mary Agnes Antonopoulos (www.MaryAgnes.com) and her team at Viral Integrity, who expertly handle all of my social media and my radio show/podcast. And this year, I've been fortunate to work with Alannah and Jamie from All Vision Creative as they designed my trusted advisor brochure and both of my web sites - it's been a labor of love, but labor would be the more accurate word! Alannah and Jamie have invested lots of time not only with my web sites, but also my brand messaging. In fact, their tagline is {un}branding for those who venture off the beaten path.
Thank you for being part of my community and allowing me to support YOU. I hope to talk to you and help you move your best projects forward - not in 2016 - but right now, today. Tomorrow is guaranteed to none of us, and the best time to do the project of your dreams, is always right now.
What are you grateful for? Here's hoping you enjoy a festive and heartwarming Thanksgiving!!
To your success,
Kelli
