What Do You Need? A Break.
I am writing this to you from my 'second home' of Hawaii, where I'm spending the next couple of weeks. I was blessed to call the island of Kauai home for several years (and the islands remain - and likely always will be - my spiritual home). When I come here I can relax deeply, re-charge, re-evaluate my priorities and re-set my compass.
Actually, that's the case whenever I allow myself to take a vacation break - whether close to home as a "staycation" or far away. The truth is, for most of us, our fast-paced, over-tech, immediate-response world demands that we take breaks on a regular basis. It's a chance for us to slow down and re-assess, in order to speed up and be productive again.
When you take a break away from your normal life, pace and distractions, you give your mind permission to 'unplug' and creativity can show up. Many who do so experience nothing less than a full re-set, and return happier, more at ease, and with a more positive outlook on life.
Studies have shown that people who take regular vacations have fewer heart attacks and lower stress levels than those who don't (which makes sense), and they often experience a greater sense of overall wellness & ease. They also tend to have happier, more fulfilled relationships and less friction and strife in dealing with others. Vacations can benefit so many aspects of your life - and the bottom line is that they are an essential part of your prescription for health, wellness, and a sense of well-being.
I encourage you to take regular vacation breaks more often - wherever you go and whatever you choose to do; even if you just unplug and do nothing. You'll return refreshed, renewed and ready to take on what's next.
Cheers,
Kelli
