Each summer, ACCTS staff members travel abroad to offer American English Language Training (AELT) and optional Bible Studies to enhance English reading comprehension and conversational skills. The comments below were received from one of the local coordinators and some of the students who participated in our July 2014 trip to China. (The staff member to whom the students refer was fondly called "Grandpa")
From a translater: 
- "It's my pleasure to help you and the students. And I enjoyed these days very much and learned a lot from you. You made me try to think about something that I didn't realize before. [Spiritual truth!] I want to say thanks to you , too!!"
From some of the students:
- "Thank you. In these days, you make us enjoy learning English. I learned a lot from you and I enjoy your class very much. Thank you! I love you!
- Thank you, teacher. It's you that make me understand English is really interesting. I thought we can learn English only by reading and writing but now I realize that we should learn it by our heart. Although you have to leave now, I will never forget you.
- Thank you. You plead games with us and give us so much surprise. You are the best teacher I've ever seen. Hope to see you again!
- Thank you for your kindness. It is so nice of you to pay for the ticket by yourself, coming to China and teach us English, and bring us so many gifts, I wish you will be in good health and everything goes as you wish.
- Thank you very much! You showed us how interesting English was. I really enjoy the days we spent together. I love you!
- I love you very much. Thanks to your teaching, I learned a lot of English words these days - thank you!! You have to go now, [but] I'm loath for you to leave. Hope to see you again."
From a local coordinator:
- "Nice to receive your email! We enjoy the days with you in Changsha and hope to see you again in not far future. Blessing you."
ACCTS ministers in China under the name "Love the World." Note the recurring expressions of love, and the hope of seeing ACCTS staff again in these comments. Much of ACCTS ministry is based on long-term relationships. As mutual trust and respect develop, God uses such relationships to achieve His objectives. God has already used our ministry in China to establish such a relationship with a senior military Christian leader, perhaps to expand His kingdom in that country. Pray that these students and their teachers will continue to wonder why this team of people care so much for the people of China, and help them to understand that God Himself cares even more for the people of China. |
