ACCTS' ministries are people focused, and often depend upon long-term relationships developed over the years. Many of these relationships result from interaction-based events, in which ACCTS invites international military Christian leaders to the US to interact with US military Christians. ACCTS staff members Don and Elaine Jukam recall the 1996 Interaction, and how God has used it to His glory.
The 1996 Interaction was nearly cancelled when many of those invited could not make it, leaving only three participants, Emanuela from Albania, Timo from Finland, and Vasily from the Ukraine. All three later returned to the US as ACCTS interns, spending a year participating in and learning more about international military ministry.
Emanuela was an intern in 1997, the year in which civil war in Albania led to the collapse of the government and disintegration of the Armed Forces. Emanuela was the principal breadwinner for her family, so it was decided that she should remain in the US. She became the ACCTS Webmaster, helped start an academy ministry, and is now the coordinator for Interaction Rocky Mountain High (I-RMH), a joint ministry with Officers Christian Fellowship. I-RMH teaches international military cadets and junior officers how to integrate their faith with their military careers as they develop their Christian leadership and ministry skills.

Timo and his wife Heli were interns in 1998. When they returned to Finland, they took a lead role in the growth of their country's Military Christian Fellowship. They also used their experiences with ACCTS to organize a number of Bible conferences for cadets and junior officers from across Scandinavia and the Baltic states, and have effectively helped these young military officers develop as Christian leaders in their nation's military forces.
Vasily came to the US as an ACCTS intern in 1999. When he returned to the Ukraine, he established a Military Christian Fellowship despite a number of bureaucratic obstacles. He has been a source of encouragement to military Christians in neighboring countries, and in recent years has helped ACCTS to organize English Language camps with optional Bible Studies for Ukrainian military families.
Had there not been a 1996 Interaction, would these three military Christians have returned as interns, and gone on to such productive military ministries? God knew, and showed us once again that His plans are perfect, and always work to His glory.
