Promotion Name The History of Red Lipstick One of the first accounts of wearing red lipstick came from the Mesopotamian women (and often men) who used to adorn their lips with crushed semi-precious stones. Later, Cleopatra was known for crushing beetles and ants to get the right shade of scarlet for her lips. The phrase 'Kiss Of Death' was coined because of the harmful mixture of fucus-algin, iodine, and bromine mannite that Egyptian women used to create lipstick. Highly toxic, the concoction often led to serious illness and sometimes death. Frost lipstick even had its first incarnation-fish scales were ground up to loan lipstick its pearlescent sheen. A New Do for Hilary Hilary Clinton showed off a new hairstyle last week and the fashion press loves it!
Vanity Fair called Clinton's look "cheerful and vivacious" and referred to her side-swept bangs as being "kicky." The blog World of Hillary Clinton concurred that the shorter, wavy layers were superflattering. Morgan says, " The layers, bangs and highlighted color are a fabulous look for a woman of any age". They soften her features and project a mature, stylish woman who is in control of her life." |

How to get Healthy Hair this Summer - Protect color: UV rays from the sun can break down protective protein in the hair and open up the cuticle, allowing color to fade faster. "You can help combat fading color by keeping your hair moisturized and regularly apply a hair product containing sun and UV protection," suggests Morgan and Jim."Use Aveda's Sun Veil and wear a hat for total coverage."
- Daily moisture: You can never moisturize your skin or your hair enough in the heat of summer. For your hair we use and recommend Dry Remedy by Aveda with its deep-moisture complex which penetrates hair to deliver lasting, intense moisture, powered by buriti oil, pomegranate and palm-derived conditioners.Dry Remedy by Aveda.
- Fight frizz: You will win the battle if you apply a leave in conditioner or styling cream. Ask Morgan or Jim which one is best for you.
- Reduce oil on scalp: If hot weather gives you an oily scalp and hair lather up with a gentle shampoo such as Scalp Benefits from Aveda and condition only the mid-shaft and ends.
- Water protection: Here's a simple trick from Jim at Artisan Salon. Protect your hair from chlorine and salt by coating your hair with leave in conditioner before entering the water.
- Deep hydration: "Summer sun, chlorine and salt can dry out those luscious locks" says Morgan at Artisan Salon. "Apply a deep conditioning treatment once a week to make hair healthy and luscious."
- Counteract brassiness: Sun damage, dryness, chlorine, and other summer factors can alter hair color and cause warm tones to appear in your hair (often called "brassiness"). At Artisan Salon we suggest Aveda's Blue Malva or Black Malva shampoo and conditioner tone your hair back to it's brilliant self.
