The Buzz from Artisan Salon  December 2012
"I don't know what to do!" cried Scrooge, laughing and crying in the same breath; and making a perfect Laocon of himself with his stockings. "I am as light as a feather, I am as happy as an angel, I am as merry as a school-boy. I am as giddy as a drunken man. A merry Christmas to every-body! A happy New Year to all the world! Hallo here! Whoop! Hallo!"

"Just a Little Heart Attack"
Starring and directed by Emmy-nominated actress Elizabeth Banks.

"A little film about a super mom who takes care of everyone except herself" -- Elizabeth Banks

The holidays are the most stressful time of year for everyone, especially "Super Moms".  At Artisan Salon, we care about our guests' wellness as well as their hairstyle. Sharing tips about fashion is just as critical to us as sharing information that can help them live their lives to the fullest. One of our clients, a nurse, passed this little gem to us and we thought that it was important to share it with you.  It's a funny spoof but carries an important message for families and woman in particular. You may want to share it with your daughter, mother or friend, too. Just click on this link to send it along.

Holidays at Highfield

Falmouth offers so many exciting ways to enjoy the holidays. We enjoy shopping along our amazing Main Street and greeting old friends as we stroll along the decorated sidewalks. The shopkeepers are so welcoming and we love the idea of supporting these small businesses. The Village Green is ablaze with color and the Holiday Parade is a must to see. Church fairs abound. Be sure to visit the
Falmouth Art Center which has a really good holiday fair, too.

Perhaps, the highlight of the season is visiting Highfield Hall

We are so fortunate to have this gloriously restored mansion here in our village. See the holiday trees aglow to the sparkling sounds of live music and tantalizing smells from the Highfield kitchen. Talented local florists have joined forces with energetic Highfield volunteers to create magical memories for all. Stories, crafts, sing-a longs and demonstrations throughout the day mean fun for the whole family.
Be sure to view the night scape, too. The mansion and it's grounds are aglow with delicate white lights after dusk.
for a schedule of events.

Introducing the Aveda™ Holiday 2012 collection - Limited edition gift sets that take guests on a sensory journey of harmony and tranquility, and help support the indigenous communities and craftsmanship of northwestern Nepal.
Featuring many of Aveda's all-time favorites, the Holiday 2012 collection celebrates the beauty of well-being while honoring the ancient craft of Nepali papermaking. Every gift set is embellished with lokta paper handcrafted by men and women in the Himalayas. Aveda's purchase of lokta paper from Nepal helps support this local industry which keeps families together and reverses local deforestation in the region.  It has created jobs for more than 3,800 papermakers  and provided needed income which helps support almost 1,000 families so they can buy food and clothing, fix leaky roofs, and send their children to school.

"When you give an Aveda holiday gift wrapped with Nepali lokta paper, you become part of a centuries-old indigenous craft. We believe it is important to help break the cycle of poverty for the next generation," said Morgan Blanton, owner of Artisan Salon

When you purchase one of these gift sets, you support the  Nepali people. Such a gift  would be a perfect choice for a hostess gift, a teacher's gift or to tell that special person how much you appreciate all the little things that they do for you.

Half Up- Half Down Holiday hairstyles. Try this idea for the holidays

Can't decide if you want to wear your holiday hair up or down? Try a half-up/half-down hairstyle like actress Rene Russo, age 57, is wearing.

This type of special hairstyle looks right for either dressy or casual holiday get-togethers because it is a little of both.

Rene Russo's hairstyle features loose pieces around the face (great for adding softness to mature features.) The pulled-up part in the back has been curled to give it a finished look; the bottom part of her hair has been loosely curled as well.

The beauty of this style is that by pulling your hair away from your face, you get a youthful look (ponytails are an instant face lift!) but you get to get the length to add softness.

Not sure how to do the half-up/half-down look on your own? Just ask Morgan or Jim to try it out on your next visit!
