Greater Hudson Heritage Network Announces 

winners of the 2015 Awards for Excellence

Greater Hudson Heritage Network's Awards for Excellence program seeks to recognize and commend exceptional efforts among GHHN members. Awards are made to projects that exemplify creativity and professional vision resulting in a contribution to the preservation and interpretation of the historic scene, material culture and diversity of the region. 

The awards will be presented at the GHHN Creativity Connects Annual Conference on October 16, 2015 at Purchase College SUNY, Purchase, New York.
 
2015 Awards for Excellence are presented to:
 
Central Synagogue 
New York (New York)
This award is in recognition of the publication The Wide World of Central Synagogue by Jeffrey S. Gurock.

Dobbs Ferry Waterfront Committee
Dobbs Ferry (Westchester)
This award is in recognition for the content and graphic artwork for the interpretive signage at the Riverwalk at the Dobbs Ferry Waterfront Park.
 
Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site
Hyde Park (Dutchess)
This award is in recognition of the educational permanent exhibit "Eleanor Roosevelt and Val-Kill, Emergence of a Political Leader".
 
FASNY Museum of Firefighting
Hudson (Columbia)
This award is in recognition of the museum's educational Summer Arts program which exposed children to the arts by interpreting museum objects in an innovative way, using interactive presentations and hands on activities.
 
Friends of Historic Kingston
Kingston (Ulster)
This award is in recognition of the community collaboration and documentation in the creation of the exhibition and publication "Kingston--The IBM Years".

This award is in recognition of the exhibition "Jervis McEntee: Kingston's Artist of the Hudson River School".
 
Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame
Goshen (Orange)
This award is in recognition of the exhibition "Remember Roosevelt!" describing the Roosevelt Raceway, The Dream & The Legacy, Where It All Began - as outstanding examples of the synthesis between historic preservation and public presentation.
 
Historical Society of Newburgh Bay and the Highlands
Newburgh (Orange)
This award is in recognition of the community collaboration and documentation in the creation of the exhibit "Growing Up In Newburgh" which brought together members of the community through contributions of images, newspaper clippings, objects and a video that represent growing up in the historic city.
 
Historical Society of Newburgh Bay and the Highlands

This award is in recognition of the community collaboration and documentation of the partnership with St. George Episcopal Church in sponsoring programs that promoted history, preservation and public awareness of the state of a historic cemetery.
 
Hudson River Museum
Yonkers (Westchester)
This award is in recognition of the publication of the exhibition catalogue of the exhibit Strut: the Peacock in Beauty and Art.
 
Hudson Valley Visual Art Collections Consortium
New Paltz (Ulster)
This award is in recognition for new technology utilized in the creation of the Art of the Hudson Valley and Beyond: The Digital Collections of the Hudson Valley Visual Art Collections Consortium.
 
Southold Historical Society with Ruthann Bramson, Geoff Fleming & Amy Folk Southold (Suffolk)
This award is in recognition for the publication A World Unto Itself: The Remarkable History of Plum Island, New York, by Ruthann Bramson, Geoff Fleming and Amy Folk.
 
Somers Historical Society
Somers (Westchester)
This award is in recognition of new technology used in the oral history project providing increased visibility and accessibility of the Mabel Addis Oral History Collection.

This award is in recognition of community collaboration of the St. Luke's Episcopal Church Food Pantry Initiative.
 
Town of Clinton Historical Society
Clinton Corners (Dutchess)
This award is in recognition of the publication Building Clinton: An Architectural Survey 1760-1965.
