Hard Hat Tour of Keeper's House is this Friday (10/17)!
The Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct are restoring the last remaining Keeper's House and designing a Visitor and Education Center. For $10, you can come and enjoy a 'hard hat tour' of the Keeper's House with Mavis Cain, Director, Friends of OCA, and Stephen Tilly, architect. Participants will learn about the role this house played in the aqueduct's history as well as future plans for this historic site. A reception follows at a historic home adjacent to the OCA and the Keeper's House.

Critical Survival Skills for the 21st Century is next week! (10/24)
What is this thing known as "strategic planning" and why do you need it? Laura Roberts, principal of Roberts Consulting, will introduce the process of strong planning in an interactive day-long workshop. When an organization defines a clear strategic agenda that is relevant to and valued by its community, it has taken the first steps towards sustainability. Scrapbooks are unique artifacts that combine personal and historical records. This webinar will discuss the issues to consider in providing the best level of care for scrapbook collections. The webinar introduces the structure of scrapbooks, types of materials commonly found in them, methods of attachment, and the implications for preservation and conservation.
