For the second year in a row, our region was struck by one of the largest hurricanes in history followed by an ice storm that caused wide-spread damage. Historic sites throughout the region had their collections flooded, were surrounded by downed trees, coped with wind damage to their buildings, and suffered from electrical outages for days.
As the weather cleared, GHHN was on the front line in bringing information and resources to those who needed it most. GHHN provided immediate information on emergency drying procedures for water-damaged collections and identified such resources as where to apply for federal, state and foundation disaster relief aid.
Thanks to your contributions to the Greater Hudson Heritage Network (GHHN), we were able to serve the Hudson Valley region and beyond as a resource for collection care and disaster preparedness and remediation. GHHN strives to be an invaluable resource for this region and beyond to assist in preserving our cultural resources.
GHHN's programs, publications, and professional services need your support. Income from program registrations and memberships is not nearly enough to carry out our work. Your contributions help us bridge the gap! Despite these challenging economic times, we have managed to keep fees at the level of past years.
We are asking you to help us sustain the breadth and quality of our programs by making a year-end contribution today. A successful year-end Annual Appeal will enable GHHN to continue its standards of excellence in professional assistance and be there for you and your local institutions when you need us most. Your fully tax-deductible year-end donation will have a great impact!
On behalf of all the dedicated history volunteers and professionals throughout the Hudson Valley who will benefit from your generosity, we offer our warmest gratitude. Thank you in advance for your support and best wishes for the New Year.
Sincerely,
Ward Mintz. GHHN President
