Talking with Children about Tragedy

The world's heart has been broken as we learned of the unimaginable events in Connecticut.  Know that autism did not cause this tragedy.   It is important for us to disseminate accurate information on autism spectrum and other disorders to best support our community.  Likewise, it is important for us to share resources for speaking to and supporting our children and families at this juncture.

Below is a link to the Autism Speaks website page which provides bullets to guide and create open dialogue, where needed, and support at this difficult time.

We know that our children will vary in what they know and are exposed to on these events, accurate or not. We also know that they may respond to what they know in a variety of ways. We hope this link will further guide our parents and fellow colleagues in taking the needed steps to create a safe, loving and successful environment for all children.
We wish our families, colleagues and friends a Blessed Holiday Season of Peace

We are most grateful for the opportunities we have each week to support our local community, and for the trust we have seen placed in us!

Happy Holidays to you and yours!
