The New Triton Five
A brief overview of the new Triton FiveThe new unpowered Triton Five is a larger version of the Triton Seven, with greater dynamic range and deeper bass extension. In addition, several important refinements carried over from the Triton One development program result in enhanced imaging and a smoother overall sonic presentation. And, as with all of our Triton Towers, the Five is ideal for use in two channel systems of the highest quality, as well as multi-channel surround systems.

Like the Triton One, the Five incorporates four side-mounted sub-bass radiators, two on each side, in an inertially-balanced configuration, located near the floor to optimize room coupling. Inertially-balanced refers to drivers and/or sub-bass radiators mounted on opposite sides of the enclosure. This mounting method dramatically reduces enclosure panel vibrations due to the equal yet opposite motion of the driving elements which self-cancels the vibrations. The result is much cleaner output because the enclosure is essentially silent.

The substantial increase in infrasonic bass coupling area, relative to the Seven, along with the larger cabinet and larger drivers delivers low-distortion subwoofer quality bass from these sleek, attractively sized passive speakers. Additionally, the Five utilizes our unique balanced crossover topology, first developed for the One, along with sonically superior polypropylene capacitors, for ultra-high-resolution capability.

Matching surrounds, center channels, subwoofers and height speakers for Atmos installations are available for complete home theater systems.

The new SuperSub XXL was also a big hit, making a perfect match with the larger 3D Array XL soundbar, which looked perfect atop the 65" Sony 4K TV in our 5.1 theater setup. In fact, it sounded so good and blended so well, that one major reviewer thought he was listening to Triton Ones instead of the 3D Array XL! To say people were blown away by the compact size and room shaking performance would be a huge understatement.

Here are just a few quotes from the great press comments on the new SuperSub XXL

"In fact, the SuperSub XXL cabinet is so stable that we were able to balance a nickel on its edge while the subwoofer was playing tons of deep, loud, detailed bass."

 - Robert Kozel, Secrets of Home Theater

"I must confess, at first I mistook what I actually heard-the 3D Array XL plus the SuperSub XXL-for the Triton Ones."

 - Mark Henninger, AVS Forum

"The subwoofer's inertially balanced driver design and rock solid cabinet construction allowed it to create some powerful low bass with virtually
no visible cabinet resonance or vibration."

 - Chris Boylan, Big Picture Big Sound

SuperSub XXL won't Shake the Nickel!
Even with an action movie blasting through the soundbar and sub, and deep bass
notes throbbing through the room, the nickel didn't even move, let alone fall over ...

A brief overview of the SuperSub XXL - GoldenEar's new SuperSub™ line will be a group of ultra-high-performance compact subwoofers incorporating several recently developed unique and advanced technologies and components. The goal is to create beautifully styled, finely finished, reasonably sized subwoofers, capable of generating very deep bass at very high levels. At the same time these subwoofers must be able to deliver accurate and precise low frequency performance that is both highly impactful yet extremely musical.

The New SuperSub XXL

In order to achieve this, we have incorporated a unique, patent-pending 360 degree dual-plane inertially-balanced driver and sub-bass radiator array, combined with a very advanced electronics package. The first in this new series is the SuperSub XXL. The patent-pending driver compliment consists of two inertially-balanced 12" long-throw active drivers, one on each side, and two inertially-balanced 12 ¾"x14 ½" planar infrasonic radiators, one on the top and one on the bottom. Inertially-balanced refers to drivers and/or sub-bass radiators mounted on opposite sides of the enclosure. This force-cancelling mounting method dramatically reduces enclosure panel vibrations due to the equal yet opposite motion of the driving elements which self-cancels the vibrations. This design enables full recovery of the finest details, rather than allowing loss and blurring due to "box talk".

Because the two active drivers face side to side and the two passive radiators face up and down, the pressure waves generated are distributed more smoothly throughout the room as the different driver locations create different standing wave patterns.

The 1600 watt Class D Digital Amplifier was originally developed for the Triton One, controlled by a 56 bit DSP computer. Sonically, the result is rock-solid bass response that is both exceptionally fast and tuneful for music, and extraordinarily deep and powerful, in order to effortlessly reproduce the most extreme movie sound effects.
