Message from Traci Mead, Downtown Sailing Center Membership & Marketing Manager

Dear DSC Friends:

Reaching out to you to sweetly bid you adieu as I cast off from the Downtown Sailing Center.

Many of you are aware that I was raised in the Washington, DC area, and have numerous friends, who are very much like family, that I visit as often as possible.  It is the repeated trips to Northern Virginia and events on Capitol Hill, etc., since relocating east from Wisconsin last year that have led me to furthering one step more to a long held goal of returning, "Home." 

I have been offered and have accepted the role of Business Operations Manager with DC Sail and will be transitioning over the next two weeks, including a household move during the month of April. 

Over the course of the past year, I have met fabulous new friends, and enjoyed the camaraderie of Staff, Members and Participants of the DSC.  My experience in serving the Downtown Sailing Center and the greater Baltimore community has been especially rewarding.  It has allowed me to grow professionally at the same time providing a host of happy memories from each and every DSC event and occasion in which I participated as staff.

The Downtown Sailing Center is genuinely the "Outstanding Community Sailing Center" of the year, not only in the eyes of US SAILING, but from my perspective as well.  The sense of "Community" is prevalent.  The care and nurturing of new sailors, whether they are 8 or 80 in age, or perhaps have accessible needs, is heartwarming.  The dedication of the vibrant Board of Directors and their achievement and accomplishment of strategic goals that have been set is noteworthy and remarkable.  The Volunteers are world-class and the envy of many nonprofit organizations.  

And my brilliant and supportive colleagues, Lynn and Stuart, have developed what I hope to be a lifelong friendship.

Though I may be a few miles away and engaged with a different organization, my dedication to the mission of Community Sailing Centers, including the DSC, along with promoting and assisting with collaborative initiatives between our operations and constituencies will hold fast.

Traci came into the DSC last year and provided a new level of professionalism in our office. She established clear businesses processes that we will use now and into the future.  Although she will be missed we are grateful of her hard work and dedication.

The Board, Staff and members all wish Traci the best as she moves forward in her new position. And we hope she visits to snap some more great photos from the docks.
