Blankets Needed!!!!!!!!!!

Our blanket inventory is at an all-time low.  We need large blankets - at least 45" x 65".  For the past few months we've been getting way more small blankets than larger sizes.  Right now, there are 60 small blankets on the shelves in my garage and zero, zilch, nada large blankets.

We give blankets to kids up to the age of 18.  Please remember that the small blankets we're getting will not cover a teenager.  But, a large blanket will cover any age kid.
Fleece Make a Blanket Day (MABD)
Meridian, November 8

Come help make fleece blankets at our MABD at Meadow lake Village.  The quickest way to build up our inventory is to make fleece blankets.  No knots - we'll just be making straight fringe  Scissors and rotary cutters will be provided.

How many of you have looked at our chapter website?  Check it out for information about Project Linus, our local chapter, patterns and blanket guidelines.

You can always check for dates for our MABDs on our chapter website.

The Finish a Fleece Blanket page has been completely rewritten.  There is also a link to print the No-Sew Fleece Blanket Guidelines.

Please note that we prefer straight fringed fleece with NO KNOTS!

Blanket Guidelines

Suggested Blanket Sizes:

Baby - 30" x 30" to 30" x 36"

(please use soft baby yarn for baby afghans)

Child - 40" x 55" to 40" x 60"

Teen - 45" x 65" to 45" x 72"

These are approximate sizes. Kids AND blankets come in all sizes.  Our Project Linus blankets are donated to all ages - from newborns up to age eighteen.

However, we never receive enough "boy" blankets and teen-sized blankets. Nurses tell us that more boys are admitted to hospitals than girls.

Our hospitals prefer that baby blankets to be at least 30" x 30" - no smaller, please.

Please use a pattern for baby afghans with no holes that will catch tiny fingers and toes.

Our hospitals will not accept fleece blankets for preemies.  Please make fleece blankets in child or teen sizes as listed above.

A note about fleece blankets - we prefer single layer fleece with no knots, just neatly fringed.  Fringe should be no longer than 2 or 3 inches.  The longer you cut the fringe, the less blanket there is for snuggling!  Nurses tell us that laying on knots can cause bedsores.

Volunteers are love in motion!
