Greetings!
During this holiday season we ask you to take a minute and consider our request. On behalf of the Birmingham Bloomfield Community Coalition's Youth Action Board (YAB), we are simply asking for your financial support of our community-driven, substance abuse prevention efforts which focus on youth. What better gift could you give a child than an opportunity to grow up in a community which makes substance abuse prevention a priority and supports children in making positive choices? During these busy and somewhat uncertain times, it's more important than ever to be reminded of the important influences and positive choices we can make.

The YAB has members from the twelve public and private high schools in the two school districts. Our mission is to give teens a positive voice and presence in the community, promote substance-free choices and raise awareness about substance use and abuse in the community. Also, the YAB works to promote healthy lifestyle choices amongst the youth, and advocate for the group of people that choose not to participate in using substances.

  • Drug and alcohol surveys completed by 8th-12th grade students in Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills Public Schools; over 6,000 surveys adminstered in total.

The Youth Action Board (YAB) is a volunteer high school youth group representing the 12 public and private high schools in the Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills School Districts. YAB members meet on a regular basis to dialogue on substance use and abuse trends, as well as other important issues teens face today.
