RTP Training Review
The RTP Training Review was designed in September 2011 to cover important aspects of reference, technology, and Polaris training. Better known as just RTP, the review contains "point of need" training competencies that have been identified by supervisors across the Library system. RTP is a learning tool to ensure that all staff master basic skills in areas that have been identified as system wide needs.
The reference and Polaris competencies are aimed primarily at those who work in Public Services, while the technology skills covered are applicable to all. Even though there is a focus on Public Services, all departments are encouraged to participate. Employees may want to keep up to date on these competencies if they wish to move into other positions in the Library system.
We will be taking a break from the RTP reviews during summer reading. However, please be on the lookout for new RTP topics scheduled to resume in August. Meanwhile, you can always refer to the RTP review archives posted on the intranet under the Training Department. There is a separate section for the RTP Training Review.
Thank you for your support and interest in training. We will continue to strive towards having everyone involved in training on a regular basis. A more informed and trained staff will help us better address the needs of our patrons.
Have a good summer.
