Big Garden intern luncheon this week

Our summer interns have held weekly programming for children and youth at nine of our Omaha Big Garden sites. We have had a wonderful summer and would like to have a little celebration to cap off our garden programming season. We invite you to attend our "Intern Luncheon." 

Wednesday, August 13th
12:00 - 1:30PM
at Hanscom Park United Methodist Church,
one block south of 45th & Center Street in Omaha  (in the garden on the Southwest side of the church).

Our interns will give a presentation about their summer experience, we will share photos from this summer, and we will provide a main dish & drinks (bring a side dish to share if you are able).

Help needed in Oakland, IA garden

Many of our Big Garden sites are struggling to recover after summer rain, winds, and hail. Our garden in Oakland, Iowa, continues to need help after storms nearly destroyed the garden. Oakland is directly east of the Omaha/Council Bluffs metro, approximately 45 minutes. As the growing season ends, this large garden site will continue to need help. If you know of a group that is able to help, even if for just a couple of hours, please contact Orien Hodges at 402-657-6034.

On August 7th, the United States Postal Service will begin selling its new Farmers Markets stamps. In conjunction with this release, United Methodist Ministries is launching a fall stamp drive, encouraging churches and individuals to donate the Farmers Markets (or other) stamps as an in-kind offering...
