Exciting News
We are pleased to announce that June was the most successful month that the Blue Flamingo has had in our new location! Over the past year, increased rent costs, staffing, inventory, and promotions, as well as the cost of moving, have brought financial challenges. However, due to a number of off-site invitations, open houses, and group visits in June, we were able to find some financial success!
We are very hopeful about the future ministry of the Blue Flamingo, and its ability to educate the public about the importance of Fair Trade. We know that we could not have come this far without your support.
Sales from the Blue Flamingo support the work of United Methodist Ministries and are vital our success. Here's how you can help us carry this success through the rest of the year:
- continue shopping in the store
- bring a friend for a visit
- invite us to sell at your events
- make a financial or in-kind donation
- think fair Trade first when exercising your buying power
- schedule an open house or group shopping experience

Friend of the Month
 | Meri, left, is seen here at the Blue Flamingo fashion show in March, held at Urban Abbey. Also pictured are volunteer, Linda Ethridge and Blue Flamingo manager, Deb Keeney.
|
Meri Hansen has been a volunteer at the Blue Flamingo since it opened more than nine years ago. She has worked weekly at all three locations, and with at least nine different store managers during that time. When it comes to the Blue Flamingo, she has done it all and seen it all.
Stop by the Blue Flamingo on Saturdays to meet this quiet, dedicated volunteer. We love you, Meri, and thank you for volunteering at the Blue Flamingo for so many years!

Donations Needed
We rely on our loyal supporters for donations which help us continue our thrift shop ministry. Right now, we are in need of summer clothin g in every size and color. Other needs include:
- heavy-duty shelving (call to inquire)
- folding chairs (10-20)
- housewares
- home decorator items
- kitchen pots & pans
- kitchen serving pieces
To practice environmental stewardship, we have recently switched from plastic bags to paper bags. We would appreciate your donation of paper shopping bags (with handles) of all sizes. We hope you will think of us as you do your summer cleaning!
