Volunteer Opportunities
Office Support
Our administrative office requires a volunteer to help during office hours. Computers skills are required and database experience will be an asset. Work is challenging and interesting with a great team!
Relief Childcare Volunteers (Cranston Satellite Nursery)
Our satellite nursery is always full of babies who need some cuddling, feeding and attention. If you love babies and want to volunteer in the South, let us know.

Thoughts from our Volunteers
As we looked forward to honouring our volunteers in June, we thought we'd ask a few of our them to share why they volunteer, and what they do. We'd like to share some of their feedback with you as a tribute to all the volunteers who keep this organization running, from Board members to respite care providers.
What type of volunteering do you do? Barbara - As soon as I go through the door at Bridgeland, I do whatever is needed of me. Most of my time is spent with the children; that may include anything from taking care of babies to playing with the older kids. Whatever these beautiful children want to do, I am available to help them have fun.
Heather - Baby cuddling, cooking, bathing - bed time is a huge favorite for me. I will do whatever is needed and helps the staff.
How much do you volunteer with the Cottage? Heather - I've been volunteering for 15 1/2 years, bi-weekly.
Marilyn - I've been volunteering for four years, three hours each week. Last year I did respite care for triplets for six months.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role? Barbara - Oh my gosh, the most rewarding part of my volunteering is seeing a child laugh or smile; especially knowing their situation may not warrant much laughter.
Marilyn - I love the children! I was never blessed with my own children so the CCkids are all "mine".
What do you think people need to know about the Cottage? Marilyn - Just to be reassured that all the children are loved and devoted to by the staff and volunteers.
Any last thoughts? Barbara - Every child is given the utmost respect and care. One thing that I love about the Cottage is that it's a home; it doesn't feel like a daycare or institution. I'm sure the children are sad but they are all treated like family members.
Heather - I feel the general public don't know the help is out there. The Cottage fills a huge gap in this city and is much needed. |
