Always Christmas

The people you care about most are always the hardest to shop for. You care about how they will react to the gift, so you take extra time to make your selection. This is exactly what it is like when the Ketterman Family purchases for the store. After 27 years with their own business, and working in the Vienna store before that, it would be easy to shop from a catalog, or refill with what has sold well for many years, but the family continues to "go shopping" for the people who matter most to our business, our customers. Throughout the year (starting in January), the family will travel to gift and jewelry shows to make selections with our customer in mind. We make our decisions based on what we know of our past customers and those we may have in the future. It is a pleasure to shop for you, and we look forward to finding just the right gifts for you to share with your loved ones.

Bright Idea

If you know Tammi personally, you know she is an "idea person." She is absolutely brilliant, and possibly a little crazy, but that combination has brought us some of the most amazing experiences over the years. (Remember the Duck Race?). In 2014, there was discussion of roof decor for the shopping center, but it never came to fruition. Over the summer, Tammi came up with the idea of a grouping of stars, made of lights that would adorn the roof above Ketterman's. With our wonderful landlord's permission, and the skill of one of our Jewelers, the project began to take shape.

Andrew (Katie Ketterman's brother-in-law, and Apprentice Jeweler) made a prototype for Tammi to review. After some slight adjustments and many hours with a welder, he made 12 additional stars. With help from his brother, Josh (Katie's husband), the stars were attached to the roof during Ketterman's annual Christmas Decorating Party, and lit on November 27 to kick off Ketterman's Christmas Season. How exciting (and entertaining) it is to work such talented friends and family.

Jesus is the heart of Christmas, but without the star, no one would have know where to find him. "And when they saw the star, they were overjoyed" - Matthew 2:10. We try to remember to be a light in the darkness and to share joy

Charity Trees

It was so much fun last year, we've done it again! This year we have 12 local non-profit organizations competing for the $500 prize. Each charity has decorated a tree in the median with themed ornaments. We are amazed at the creativity of these groups. We look forward to supporting them through the Christmas Season. Come out and vote for your favorite - one vote per day, please. Voting goes through Christmas Eve.

Parades and 12/12 'till 12:00

The Ketterman Family will be walking, riding and driving (a pony cart) in the Leesburg and Purcellville Christmas Parades on Saturday, December 12th. We are excited to see you in Purcellville at noon, and under the twinkling lights in Leesburg at 6:00pm.

After the Leesburg parade, join us at the store for hot chocolate and rum cake! We will be open from right after the parade until Midnight with special sales and give-aways.
