A Fitting Jewelry Tale for County Fair Week
If you've heard the fib "My dog ate my homework", imagine telling your husband, "The chicken ate my diamond".  A gentleman came to our store with a strange looking earring.  It was about one carat diamond set in platinum and the post looked like it had been ground down and curled until a "U" shape.  We asked him what happened, and he was right, we wouldn't believe it...
Condoleeza the chicken was a pet chicken, she lived the good life between her hen house and "human" house as one of the family.  Condi saw something she wanted one day, and she took it.  It was her (human) mom's diamond stud earring - she plucked it right out of her ear!  The family waited and watched for the earring to "come out", but it didn't.  A few months later Condi got sick.  Despite the veterinarian's best efforts, Condi peacefully went to Chicken-Heaven while at home with her family.
Out of curiosity Condi's (human) dad asked a neighbor if he would be willing to check "inside" for the earring.  Without being too graphic, when he opened up the chicken, he immediately saw a sparkle.  It was the diamond and the earring was still intact.  The post needed replacing, but with a light polish, the earring was as good as new.  Although the family misses their little Condi, they are left with a pretty great story, and a really nice pair of diamond studs.

A Poem In Memory of Condi the Chicken
written by Condi's (human) mom

Please rest in peace, Condoleeza

You will be terribly missed

Though some might say you were "just a chicken"

Your passing, for us, is not so easily dismissed

You were always one of the first

To jump into mommy's lap

And we will always be thankful that that's where you were when you left us

To take your eternal nap

You were the first one to start laying

And one of the most prolific

Your sweet disposition was true to your breed

Which was Dominique, to be specific

The story of your (far too short) life wouldn't be complete

Without pointing out that your inquisitive nature (as well as your very quick beak)

Also earned you your nickname

Which was "the diamond thief"

The sound of your voice

May be what I miss most acutely

Your distinctive dove-like coos and happy trills

Never failed to cheer me

Your time on this Earth was way too short

You never even got to experience Spring

As everyone knows who loves their pets deeply

Saying goodbye is the one truly hard thing

Goodbye, sweet chicklet

We will never forget you

Now hurry up to Heaven to find your new flock

Look for two floppy eared German Shepherds - and a Cockatoo

Spark Gets a County Fair Ticket!
We had so much fun with our special guest last Saturday!  Spark joined us to show off Brighton's western belts and handbags.  And for getting his picture taken wearing them, he got a free one day pass to the County Fair!
(He really is excited about it - even though he looks like he's sleeping).

-Ketterman's Diamonds-

You may not have known, but Ketterman's has an extensive selection of loose diamonds, in just about any shape, color and size.  We also have long standing relationships with many diamond dealers, so access to whatever you need is just  call away.

Tammi's grandmother had a saying, "Paper will lie down and let you write just about anything on it."  The Kettermans take this saying to heart when buying (and selling) diamonds.  A diamond has to look pretty in person, and the paperwork comes second.  When the Ketterman's go "shopping" for diamonds, there are many attributes taken into consideration, but the bottom line is, is it pretty?  Does it sparkle in a way we would be proud of?  If the answer is anything other than yes, we look for something prettier.

You also may not have known that Ketterman's offers a diamond "trade-up"  for the lifetime of your Ketterman's diamond.  We will give you what you originally paid for it towards a new diamond that costs at least 20% more.  This means, as your relationship grows, so can your diamond.
Fun Fact...

DID YOU KNOW?

If you place diamonds inside the human body, they will not trigger an immune response.

Diamonds conduct heat five times faster than copper, which is why they feel cold to the touch.
